Full description of the position
Milwaukee Forge was started in 1913, providing High Quality Steel Forgings to customers in various industries. It has been at its present location since 1918 and has grown the customer base through expanding the types of forgings offered, outstanding quality and dependable service.
We are currently hiring a Sales Account Manager.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Sales Executive performs direct sales and sales account management of assigned accounts. This is a base salaried position with sales incentive opportunity.
BASIC FUNCTION:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and develop list of assigned existing accounts.
- Operate proactively to manage customer expectations by updating them on production schedules, steel availability, and status of their tooling.
- Build rapport with major accounts by maintaining visibility through presence with their organization.
- Expected travel is 30-40% per year. In person relationships are key to our account management.
- Work in coordination with the sales team including customer service, to improve the customer experience.
- Manage key relationships with internal departments, quality, shipping, production/scheduling, and finance to advocate for customers’ needs.
- Proactively be the voice of the customer communicating future demand forecasts to the organization to help with planning activities.
- Ability to prioritize and organize daily activities, responding to customers promptly (within 2 working days).
- Communicate status updates on major accounts weekly with the Chief Sales Executive.
- Collect market and competitor information to communicate back to management.
- Dedicated to continuous learning, by attending training, and developing relevant knowledge of forging.
- Advise and provide research assistance for future market expansion and opportunities.
- Help in developing annual part forecast by customer for assigned accounts.
- Uncover prospects and future opportunities for business growth.
- All other sales related activities as assigned by the Chief Sales Executive.
7. Daily Responsibilities include:
- Travel to assigned accounts to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talk with customers by phone.
- Respond to and follow up on sales inquiries using appropriate methods.
- Quote prices, credit terms and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
- Develops and maintains relationships with and beyond purchasing contacts.
- Prepare reports of business transactions and keep a monthly expense account.
- Formulate creative approaches to overcome pricing obstacles.
- Estimate dates of delivery to customer based on knowledge of the company’s production and delivery schedules.
- Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries.
- Develop ongoing customer programs to maintain and improve relationships.
- Manage individual customers to the targeted contribution margin objective.
- Propose and develop long-term supply agreements consistent with overall sales and marketing objectives.
8. Able to travel to accounts, trade shows and company events as required.
9. Perform miscellaneous requests, duties, and special projects as required by the Chief Sales Executive.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Computer proficiency to learn internal ERP system, MS 365 proficiency, Excel, and CRM software.
- Experience in direct sales, sales leads development and sales account management.
- Proven sales experience selling manufactured industrial parts within trucking, agriculture, construction, or related industries desired.
- Minimum two years’ related sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and sales experience desired.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing is a plus.
- Possess the ability to influence others inside and outside of the organization without direct authority.
- The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables with limited information is a must.
- The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Highly self-motivated, able to work independently, customer service and relationship driven.
- Excellent communication, organization, goal setting, analytical, negotiation and follow through skills.
- Lead by example, be a team player, work under minimal guidance/direction.
