Our Finance team serves as a critical business partner responsible for managing all global activities related to financial performance, accounting, tax, forecasting, risk management, and asset management.

What will I be doing?
As the Senior Sales Tax Accountant, the team will lean on your deep understanding of Tax and analytical skills to administer, prepare, review and analyze sales, use, and transient occupancy tax returns of more complex filings. You will use your strong interpersonal skills every single day to build positive partnerships with your team members who rely on you as a supervisor. You will work most closely with the Sales Tax Accountant and Sales Tax Accountant Associates. Also, acting as a resource to your team members, you will assist with research, audits, and planning projects.

More specifically, you will:

• Administer, prepare and file sales, use, occupancy, telephone, and liquor tax returns for owned and/or managed hotels and notify hotel finance and property of any abnormalities.
• Keep accurate tax rate schedules for all assigned properties and notify finance and property of any changes promptly.
• Maintain jurisdiction files for assigned properties following state and local law.
• Review assigned properties’ claimed room exemptions with the responsibility of accepting or rejecting exemptions in compliance with laws and rules monthly.
• Respond to requests for tax information by both internal customers and taxing authorities in addition to resolving compliance issues with taxing authorities. You will frequently partner with corporate hotel accountants and hotel location personnel.
• Maintain a tax calendar with due dates, registration numbers, database, and other information to ensure all returns are filed timely.
• Train and serve as a contact to Sales Tax Accountants, including acting as the first point of contact for questions when Sales Tax Accountants encounter difficult issues before escalating to the Manager.

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

• Three (3) years of corporate/public accounting/state tax department experience
• Two (2) years of working with computerized financial systems
• Knowledge of multi-state sales & use tax
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

• BA/BS Bachelor's and/or MA/MS Master’s Degree
• Knowledge of multi-state sales & lodging taxes
• Six (6) years of Indirect Tax experience
