Planet Pet in Winter Park (and Parent company Farm & Pet Superstore in East Orlando) is currently seeking friendly, outgoing, customer service oriented people to join our growing business. We are looking for retail associates to provide excellent customer service and meet sales quotas for our business. Candidates with strong communication skills who can make customers feel welcome in our store will stand out. You will help identify client needs, present and answer questions about our products and recommend solutions. A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential customer issues or complaints will make you successful in this role. Ultimately, you will ensure that customers leave our store satisfied and you will contribute to the store’s profitability. We are seeking long term employees who are looking to come on board and grow with us! As we are a pet supply retail store, knowledge of animal care and nutrition is definitely a plus! This is a fast paced work environment and requires exceptional multi tasking skills, attention to detail, and a driven attitude to take initiative; not waiting to be told what needs to be done. Most shifts will be worked independantly without supervision, so the ability to to self motivate is invaluable.

Candidates MUST be available to travel to the East Orlando location for all training and then regularly for one to two shifts per week for continued training, product knowledge, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct customers
  • Open and close the store
  • Provide accurate information (e.g. product features, pricing and after-sales services)
  • Answer customers’ questions about specific products/services
  • Conduct price and feature comparisons to facilitate purchasing
  • Cross-sell/Up-sell products
  • Ensure racks are fully stocked
  • Manage returns of merchandise
  • Coordinate with the team to provide excellent customer service
  • Inform customers about discounts and special offers
  • Provide customer feedback to the Store Manager
  • Stay up-to-date with new products/services
  • Maintain cleanliness of retail area and common areas, including floors, shelves, bathrooms, counters, trash, etc.
  • Properly rotate and stock shelves to keep them fresh and full

Skills

  • Proven work experience as a retail sales associate or similar role
  • Understanding of the retail sales process
  • Familiarity with consumer behavior principles
  • Knowledge of inventory stocking procedures
  • Basic math skills/cash handling skills
  • Track record/experience of achieving sales quotas
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of building trusting relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to perform in fast-paced environments
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Readiness to learn and absorb product information
  • Hard worker, initiative taker, self starter; able to work without constant supervision, still getting required tasks completed
  • Excellent multi tasking skills
  • Equine experience is a HUGE PLUS but not required
  • Must be capable of lifting 30-50lbs
