The General Sales Manager is responsible for the overall day to day sales operations of his/her facilitie(s). The main priority will include coaching, developing, and driving a group of District Sales Managers that will lead a front-line sales route team. The General Sales Manager will be responsible for all business and strategic planning to develop premium in store execution through a set group of independent accounts & key customers. The General Sales Manager will be accountable for driving VPX Sports initiatives through Sales Volume Targets and creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to continue growth focus.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a sales team to ensure sales and distribution targets are executed at a premium standard
- Ensure all VPX sales processes and routines are being practiced and executed consistently
- Spend at least 1 day/week in the field with DSMs to train, develop, and collaboratively work with your leaders in the field
- Analyze Market trends and forecast revenue for future business
- Manage a team 5 – 7 (DSM) direct reports, 20-30 (ASM) Indirect Reports
- Responsible for developing market specific strategic priorities to drive Sales volume and KPI initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 6 years DSD/Sales Team Management industry related experience
- Distribution Management Experience
- Excellent leadership skills to provide mentoring, training, and corrective feedback
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
- Adaptable and quick to learn new processes and tools.
- Has a “whatever it takes” attitude.
- A track record of performance meeting targets and objectives.
- Self-directed, goal-oriented, and flexible, enjoying working in a fast-paced and at times challenging environment.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and with a wide range of employees with different skill sets.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
