Job Summary

Provides career development and job search services to undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni. Works with faculty and employers to assist and educate on the career development process and assists students in finding employment.

  • Provides individual advising in-person, by phone, or via e-mail (scheduled and walk-ins) for assigned undergraduate business majors, assigned graduate programs and alumni/ae.
  • Collaborates with external employers and other designated internal staff in coordinating employer efforts to present to COB students and/or COB student organizations.
  • Identifies and recommends print and online career materials for undergraduate and graduate students. Assists with the development of marketing material/handouts/workbooks/videos.
  • Assists in identifying appropriate career resource materials for undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni.
  • Works with employers to establish and cultivate relationships. Liaises with corporate or government recruiters for internships and permanent opportunities. Maintains close working relationships with employer partners and academic departments.
  • Participates in activities, such as orientations and welcome week, to promote the office of Business Career Management to new and transfer students.
  • Acts as a liaison to COB student organizations that provide services to undergraduate students. Collaborates with these organizations and facilitates workshops pertaining to career development topics.
  • Reviews and approves pending resumes, cover letters, and unofficial transcripts in database for assigned undergraduate majors, assigned graduate majors, and/or alumni.
  • Assists assigned undergraduate majors, graduate majors, alumni, and employer partners with internal career database technology (e.g. Handshake, VMock, PathwayU, and LinkedIn). Generates requested reports and tracks students' activity and placements.
  • Collaborates on career events, e.g., panels, information sessions, mock interviews. Works with staff to develop career events for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Develops and conducts workshops on a variety of career related topics, and presents them virtually, via classroom presentation, student organization meetings, university orientations, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree and two (2) years of related experience or Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience.

  • Exceptional knowledge in resume writing, interviewing and job search skills.
  • Understanding of career development cycle and career exploration for college-aged students.
  • Knowledge of the employment landscape for undergraduate and graduate business students.
  • Ability to teach workshop in small and large groups.
  • Excellent coaching, counseling, interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Experience working with diverse and/or underrepresented college student populations.
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field.
