Regional Sales Manager Job Description
Strahman Group, a global leader in Washdown Equipment, Industrial Process Valves, and Fire Safe & Valve Automation Products for the past 100 years, is seeking a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) in the 10-state Midwest United States. This is an outside sales management position based in the Chicagoland area. The Regional Sales Manager will report directly to the Strahman Group Vice President of North American Sales & Marketing.
The RSM will develop and execute a sales plan that grows all aspects of the Strahman Group’s product offerings in the Midwest region of the US through the motivation, training, and support of a network of manufacturer’s representatives as well as limited sales to direct customers. Managing relationships with customers, sales representatives, and internal factory support is essential to success in this role. The key measure to success is sales growth in the region.
The ideal candidate for this role has 5-8 years of direct technical sales experience with complex technical products in the Midwest United States. This candidate will gain valuable initial experience in sales management through the leadership of manufacturer representatives.
Regional Sales Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Leads the manufacturer sales representative network and select direct accounts to maximize sales revenue and meet or exceed forecasted growth targets in the region
- Provides direction, motivation, and leadership for the sales representatives in region including regular joint sales calls to customers, strategy development, and product training
- Promotes products solutions to customers for all Strahman Group business segments including washdown mixing units, process valves, and BI-TORQ industrial valve automation
- Supports overall business planning process including customer relationship management, opportunity management via CRM, as well as proposal follow-up and closure
- Establishes quarterly and annual sales plans for the region in support of overall company objectives
- Expands industry knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and attending tradeshows/seminars.
- Supports the preparation of effective quotations, bids, and related negotiation documentation for the sales of products produced by the company as needed.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement with respect to significant matters
Candidate Qualifications & Skills:
The successful candidate for the position of Regional Sales Manager at the Strahman Group should have the following skills & qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or equivalent technical sales experience
- Minimum of 5 years of Industrial Sales and Manufacturer Representative Management experience, preferably in industrial valves and valve automation products
- An interest in taking the next step in sales career by leading 3rd party manufacturing representatives
- Lives within driving distance of the Chicago airports and Strahman local office in St Charles, IL.
- Ability to utilize the Solution Selling process for complex technical sales inquiries
- Regular overnight travel throughout region to meet with customers and channel partners
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence with and without authority
- Demonstrate a high level of Ethics, Humility, and Professionalism; Awareness for safety in the workplace
