What You Will Do:
- Assisting customers with all items sold in the Market: fresh fish, fresh meat, our extensive menu items, chef case, and frozen food. The associate will have a basic knowledge of items so that customer questions can be answered. This includes basic information on types of fish, cuts of meats, basic cooking methods, and information on featured or sales items.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. This includes being polite and friendly at all times, paying attention to customer needs and offering information and direction as needed, answering the telephone in a friendly manner with the proper greetings.
- Keep work areas clean, neat, and well stocked. This includes inventory for the fresh fish case, meat case, cooked food, and grocery areas.
- Operate the cash register system and assist with sales as needed. The associate will understand all transactions, including cash, check, credit cards, food stamps, gift cards, and advantage club cards. The associate will be able to help with customer service issues associated with sales, such as special orders, complaints, and refunds as necessary.
- The associate will abide by the store hours for opening and closing times, rotate with other employees for breaks and lunches and be sensitive to customer demands. Therefore, if the store is busy and customers need to be waited on, break/lunch times may be adjusted.
- Work under the guidelines of Palmer Food Services Handbook and have an understanding of the Company’s Culture, and Goals & Objectives. When appropriate, associates assigned to the Market may be crossed-trained in other areas of the company to help as needed.
- Communicate with the Manager on Duty any concerns and customer needs. The associate will work together with Management to effectively meet the needs of the customers.
- Present a professional image to internal/external customers and vendors with appropriate dress according to the guidebook while maintaining good grooming and hygiene
What You Need:
- Strong interpersonal skills, friendly, outgoing personality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail store environment
