JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Sales Manager, the Sales Representative functions as an integral member of a customer driven production team whose goal is to maintain an emphasis on acquiring and retaining broad based customer relationships in the machining industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Requirements of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Research New Companies
- Prospects for new business by researching, primarily using the Internet.
- Prepare and present proposals.
- Phones
- Deal with customers, vendors and all channels of distribution to assess and analyze timely product delivery and any hindrances to it.
- Initiate and make “cold calls” on a planned basis to enhance exposure to new situations and opportunities.
- Travel
- Meet with existing and potential new customers.
- Directly sell in the field.
- Deliver parts.
- Attend trade shows, sales forums and business meetings.
- Maintain Existing Customer Relationships
- Serve as a point of contact for business customers and maintain a high level of product and vendor knowledge.
- Work in conjunction with the quality team to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Under limited direction, and with a quality work ethic, the employee shall function as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.
- Ability to understand CNC machining and the company’s machining capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and personal leadership skills.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and have a desire to continuously improve one’s skill set and technical knowledge.
- Must be comfortable with cold calls and lead generating.
- Knowledge of Internet, good PC skills with proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Requires a NYS driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of sales experience
Must have prior experience selling machined parts
