Full description of the position

Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. Some remote opportunities are available within specific departments. There are also roles that require being on-site full time. You’ll learn more about this during the application process.


JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and effectively soliciting new sales prospects and former clients for the purpose of selling guest rooms, group facilities and catering services in accordance with the “Universal Orlando” and “Loews Hotels” business objectives for profitability, sales volume and penetration of targeted market segments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, solicits and negotiates group bookings through direct sales calls, trade show attendance, special promotions, lead follow-up, mail and telemarketing to achieve objectives for sales volume and associated revenues; sets individual goals and develop strategies (within the intent of the overall sales and marketing plan); seeks out sources of new business; participates in associations, committees and community events to develop effective contracts; follows-up on all sales leads received; inputs booking information in the Delphi Reservation System.
  • Promotes “Universal Orlando” services to prospective customers by conducting tours designed to present guest rooms, function spaces and all Universal Orlando facilities. Maintains contact with active accounts to promote repeat business; follows-up with former accounts to identify further need for “Universal Orlando” services and to solicit return business.
  • Prepares and customizes sales proposals and service contracts to reflect the requirements for prospective clients; negotiates rates and prices within established guidelines; maintains documentation of all proposals, quotes correspondence and contracts related to prospective sale(s) and sales accounts.
  • Maintains current familiarity with all components of the “Universal Orlando” facilities, competitive strength/weakness and resource and catering capabilities, including pricing guidelines and menu options, to ensure that sales prospects receive accurate and timely information upon which to base a sound decision.
  • Attends staff meetings to discuss progress toward achieving business plan goals, examine emerging business trends, identify sales opportunities and receive information on upcoming marketing packages, special events, holiday themes and related marketing/sales activities; conducts sales efforts to correspond with goals and objectives of overall sales and marketing plan.
  • Keeps abreast of local hospitality marketing so as to be better informed of marketing opportunities for business trends which could have a direct/indirect effect on future sales; appraises management of such information for use in formulating sales strategies and future planning efforts.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Business or Hospitality Sales required.

EXPERIENCE: 5-7 Years sales experience in the hospitality industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
