General Description

Under the direction of the Applications Engineering Manager, the Applications Engineer will work as an integral part of the team to create equipment and upgrade proposals. This process starts with receiving an RFQ from the sales team and translating this to a machine specification to fulfill the customer requirements. The applications engineers are responsible for creating a 3D model of the proposed machine from which costing and a proposal are created. To assist in costing projects, it will be necessary to contact vendors for sub-system pricing and lead time quotes. Upon receipt of order, the position is responsible for assisting with the project folder and machine scope creation so that the project can be passed to engineering and production. In addition to project-based work, the position will have additional duties in creating standard practices and streamlining processes in the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Assist application leads and sales managers in managing the RFQ log based on priority and workload.

· Create proposals based on standardized costing and similar-to parts/machines.

· Update proposals based on feedback from sales, engineering, and project management.

· Create customer presentations for large capital equipment projects.

· Collaborate with vendors and applications team to develop quotes and cost analyses.

· Hold self and support team accountable to company and customer for meeting timelines and objectives.

· Assist in communication and documentation of daily project status and release dates.

· Assist mechanical and electrical engineering teams as required

· Participate in development of SOPs and procedural improvements

· Helps drive and support BCT’s Culture and Core Values

· Demonstrate ability to successfully manage a task list based on input from multiple (potentially competing) interests

· Strong interpersonal & written skills with desire to be an active team member.

· Demonstrate proficiency with computers skills MS Office, MS Project or similar project management software. MS Developer and Visual Basic knowledge is a plus.

Education and/or Experience

Requires associates or bachelor’s degree with progressively responsible related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in an office environment, with work that will occasionally take them out to the shop floor. While performing the duties of this job out in the shop, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. When in the shop the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the shop is sometimes loud enough to require hearing protection.
