Northstar Chemical is a well respected and rapidly growing company in the chemical industry based in Sherwood, OR with locations in Tacoma, WA; Modesto, CA, and Los Angeles, CA. Northstar is composed of two groups. The IPG group specializes in mini-bulk and bulk deliveries of commodity chemicals to municipal and industrial customers. The WTX group specializes in boiler/cooling tower treatment, wastewater treatment, and potable water treatment.
We have an immediate need for a Sales Account Manager on the WTX Team in the Pacific Northwest. This is a great opportunity to join a well established and rapidly growing company offering an excellent base salary, commissions range $60k-150k, car allowance and benefits including a generous retirement plan. The main industries are food processing, wood products, high tech, municipal, and institutional customers.
This position is based in either Seattle/Tacoma or Portland, OR (2 positions available) and will require some limited travel overnight. Individual must be a self-starter who enjoys continuous development of new customers through cold calling. Strong selling skills including a demonstrated ability to close new sales are essential. Education requirement: Bachelor of Science.
Key Job Tasks of Sales Representative
1. Setting Objectives
· Set objectives for service, customer retention, and development. Organize, track, and direct daily efforts to meet these objectives.
· Understand territory financial data and manage expenses and revenue at proper levels for WTX group profit and performance.
2. Product Expertise
· Establish and maintain expertise and experience with all chemistries, equipment, and technologies involved with the WTX group and the water treatment industry as a whole.
· Effectively communicate knowledge with customers and work to build reputation as an “industry expert”.
3. Service Standards
· Use Northstar’s Seven Service Standards to standardize and customize the service plan for each customer.
· Develop new customers as well as new opportunities at existing customers.
· Establish and encourage a culture of safety and respect at each customer site.
4. Customer Retention
· Continually find new ways to add value to existing customers with new technology, new services, improved safety, etc.
· Provide technical support to customers – identify and resolve customer challenges quickly and effectively.
· Maintain face-to-face contact with customers and develop relationships at different levels and in different departments at key customers.
· Integrate with IPG group and work to utilize strengths of both departments to increase sales and customer retention.
· Help identify jeopardy accounts and devise aggressive strategies to maintain business.
· Conduct service plan reviews with customers and engage upper level employees.
· Track expenses at each customer and engage the appropriate people if there are issues with chemical usage.
5. Managing Inventory
· Work with logistics on ordering, warehousing, and cost control for all products.
· Consistently work to manage costs (product, freight, labor, etc.) to maximize profit margins.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
