Full description of the position
Individual & Medicare Sales Executive
Spokane, WA, Lewiston, ID or Coeur d'Alene, ID
This Sales Executive is responsible for meeting sales targets for all individual and Medicare products within assigned territory, utilizing direct and broker sales channels including online brokers. Sales targets are defined by channel and Line of Business in support of The Company's overall goals.
General Functions and Outcomes
- Meets or exceeds new sales targets as defined by leadership.
- Primary responsibility is to establish and maintain relationships with the broker community that support productive sales of The Company’s Individual and Medicare products to meet assigned sales targets.
- Develops, executes, and continuously improves on an annual territory Business Plan, which will include specific strategies and tactics for achieving sales targets. Business Plan will include market and competitive analysis using demographic and other data as appropriate, will utilize specific sales activities and agent strategies, and will be updated regularly in response to market intelligence as well as other factors.
- Supports brokers throughout the sales process in all sales-oriented activities, including marketing, advertising, sales promotion, and training. Also responsible to assist brokers with issues related to the sales process.
- Manages broker relationships within the assigned territory including managing events, appointments and affiliations, co-op marketing funds, promotional activities in accordance with The Company’s policies and procedures to achieve appropriate levels of visibility for The Company.
- Promotes and provides training for the broker community within assigned territory related to the marketing of Individual and Medicare products and services, compliance with Federal, State, and Company policies and procedures, including continuing education credits as appropriate.
- Manages the implementation of broker Strategies. Develops negotiation tactics with brokers to achieve budgeted enrollment targets. Looks for and creates opportunities for mutual benefit. Tracks broker production results and motivates increased production using best practices, based on goals as determined in the Business Plan. Maintains positive relationships with and utilizes brokers to gather market intelligence.
- Works to ensure the appropriate routing of member issues, and collaborating with internal partners to confirm any issues are resolved.
- Monitors the external environment for industry best practices and advises brokers how to position The Company’s products against competitors.
- Has the ability to deliver negative and positive news in a fashion that allows for building and improving business relationships.
- Effectively and efficiently manages leads referred to Brokers, including CRM data entry updates and follow-up activities.
- Builds and maintains mutually respectful relationships with sales leadership, team members, and representatives of other functional areas and departments. Works to continuously improve sales processes and methods.
- May participate in special projects as assigned, such as training, leadership or communication sessions within or outside of The Company.
Minimum Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of sales techniques and insurance laws, including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Affordable Care Act (ACA) related requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding of Individual and Medicare product complexities with ability to communicate effectively with various parties.
- Ability to build and maintain strong business and community relationships.
- Proven success remaining organized and prioritizing work to meet established deadlines.
- Demonstrates a consistent focus on achieving or surpassing assigned goals.
- High level of self-motivation with the ability to motivate others including brokers.
- Excellent training and presentation skills which include preparing and directing meetings and training presentations; expressing self clearly and concisely, so the subject matter is easily understood by internal and external audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and facilitation skills, strong listening and reasoning skills, ability to work in a distributed team environment and ability to communicate sensitive and/or confidential information to internal and external audiences.
- Represent The Company in a positive, professional manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and ability to successfully navigate mobile applications and Salesforce.
- Familiarity with agent licensing and certification requirements.
The Individual and Medicare Sales Executive would typically have a bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field and 1-3 years’ experience and demonstrated success in a commission-sales environment, preferably in a related industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be currently licensed, or become licensed within 90 days of hire, to sell insurance (health, life,and/or disability) in the state or states where business is conducted. Prior to receiving a license, staff are not allowed to engage in soliciting or selling activities.
- Valid state driver’s license.

Additional Job Description
The base pay annual salary range for this job is $50,000.00 - $110,000.00. In addition, This role has a robust incentive plan based on individual and organizational goal achievement.
