Job Description
PFM Asset Management LLC is currently seeking a Relationship Manager to serve as the key point of contact to institutional clients in California. This individual will be charged with leading and strengthening client engagements. The relationship manager will establish and maintain client interface with CFOs, Finance Directors, and Investment Committees, and others, in general, providing capital market and economic updates, performance reviews, advice of cash flow analysis, investment policy documentation, and investment strategy development.
Travel to clients throughout the region is required for this role. When not traveling, this person will work from PFMAM’s San Francisco office.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with decision makers and primary contacts for assigned book of business
- Coordinate information flow between staff, clients, and PFMAM project and product managers on a regular basis;
- Coordinate preparation of client reports and other written communications;
- Present reports and other materials to clients at meetings;
- Analyze various options to come up with optimal investment solutions for our clients;
- Oversee and present investment analyses including performance, cash flow, and security analysis;
- Create innovative ways of educating clients and prospects on current market events and investment opportunities;
- Present and discuss thought leadership;
- Inform and educate clients about PFMAM products and services; and
- Support other sales, marketing and service activities as appropriate.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- CFA, other professional financial designations and/or in progress toward a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of relationship management or other highly related experience in the public sector, ERISA or not-for-profit arena. Experience in servicing governments, healthcare, higher education, and/or other not-for-profit institutional clients strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- FINRA Registrations - Series 6 and Series 63 or strong desire to become FINRA licensed
- Candidate should be well versed across the investible capital markets but especially in fixed income funds, short and intermediate-term fixed income investments, money market instruments.
- Independent and self-motivated.
- Ability to think and act strategically. Looks at issues affecting the team from a larger, longer-term perspective rather than just day-to-day task execution.
- Demonstrates flexibility when approaching complex situations and often uses creative methods/solutions to avoid conflicts and/or negative outcomes.
- Possesses a high degree investment acumen, institutional client-facing, and presentation skills.
- Self-starter who has excellent personal motivation with the ability to work collaboratively in a strong team environment as well as independently.
- Outstanding project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate successfully in and lead a team environment. Willing to take on a variety of roles within a team including leader and facilitator.
- Demonstrates unwavering integrity and instills confidence in others.
- Desire to improve processes, take initiative and solve problems.
- Strong quantitative, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Detail oriented with strong organization skills.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications and related technologies

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
