In this role, the Account Executive must be able to identify, develop, and cultivate business relationships with global biotech companies that are developing orphan drugs for rare diseases. The specialist must possess the skills necessary to assist client companies in completing the regulatory pathway toward receiving Orphan Drug Designation with the FDA in the United States and the EMA in Europe. This position requires interpersonal, language, and writing skills and an intimate understanding of FDA and EMA orphan drug regulatory affairs. In addition, candidate must possess an understanding of the clinical requirements necessary for the various regulatory filings and specifically understand the details of achieving Orphan Drug status in the United States and in Europe. The candidate must possess strong business writing and Internet skills, including the use of a CRM database (Salesforce), Office 365, Adobe suite, and the ability to complete work on several concurrent projects within established timeframes and deadlines as assigned. Position requires travel to and from business conferences domestically and internationally, promoting company’s services, and facilitating necessary contracts and agreements between the company and potential clients. Position also requires ability to direct a team of Regulatory Affairs Specialists, including the managing of territories, client deals and relations, and overseeing the writing and delivery of rare disease regulatory submissions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
What you’ll do
  • Formulate, direct, or coordinate marketing activities or policies to promote products or services, working with marketing and Commercial Growth teams.
  • Supervise Regulatory Affairs Specialists and develop marketing strategy for roadshows and manage the attendance of such events to bring business.
  • Estimate cost and material requirements in coordination with the Regulatory Affairs team. Scope out the level of effort for any given project and price it based on their recommended number of hours.
  • Supervise the client relations management software as an administrator, analyze organizational data to make decisions based on regions and territories, track repeat business trends, and modify company strategy in problem areas.
  • Direct sales, marketing, or customer service activities.
  • Prospect potential companies in the orphan drug space to sell company services to, and develop regulatory strategy based on clients’ needs at various points throughout the drug development process.
  • Keep abreast of clients and deals across the territories of the junior Regulatory Affairs Specialists which the Director of Regulatory Affairs Specialists oversees.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and continually revisit the sell-cycle to identify gaps in order to help other managers and associates do better in their territories, while developing new strategies to promote our services.
  • Present proposals to clients including the scientific rationale for moving forward with a FDA or EMA application.
QUALIFICATIONS:
What you’ll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Business, or other related sciences
  • 5+ years of relevant sales experience
  • FDA regulatory experience, preferred
  • Salesforce experience, preferred
  • Ability to work independently and travel as need
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Highly motivated, persistent, and sales result driven
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to plan, organize, and prioritize work with little or no supervision
