ABOUT THE POSITION

Give2Asia is seeking a talented business development and donor relations professional to support our growth across core services. This person will join our international team headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area to build new relationships with a diverse set of donors and guide overall performance of the business development function within our US-based entity.

This is a full-time remote position within the US. Preference is for candidates either in San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, D.C., or New York City. Give2Asia is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Occasional travel to the Bay Area and international travel to Asia will be expected.

SUMMARY OF JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Business Development Associate will be part of a team working closely together to meet Business Development and Marketing goals for the organization. The Associate is responsible for supporting a broad range of U.S. donor business development activities that target corporations, families, and private foundations. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build Give2Asia’s visibility, impact, and grantmaking resources. This person will be critical to Give2Asia outreach and relationship-building with donors and partner in the U.S. and globally.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Drive growth and visibility for donor services and partnerships as part of the Business Development & Marketing function. This will include metrics and accountability to annual targets and budget.
  • Support outreach to U.S.-based donors, as well as to professional advisors and donor networks. Professional advisors include wealth managers, legal counsel, accountants, community foundations, and commercial DAFs. Donor networks include regional and national family and foundation networks, as well as corporate philanthropy and CSR networks.
  • Manage Give2Asia’s annual marketing calendar and external marketing contractors to meet Give2Asia’s annual goals.
  • Work closely with the Director of Business Development to ensure successful Give2Asia presence at industry events, network opportunities, and prospect meetings.

The successful candidate will have an interest in private philanthropy and the work of overseas charitable programs. This person will also be able to build new relationships and tap into new and existing partnership networks for Give2Asia while successfully carrying out business development and marketing activities.

RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To: Director of Business Development, Give2Asia

Internal:

  • Supports U.S. donor business development activities, which may take place in the US as well as overseas
  • Works closely and in partnership with Give2Asia’s CEO, Program Operations and Stewardship team, and Finance team to meet business development goals
  • Manages expectations and resources with staff to develop content and materials that support business development and marketing
  • Supports the Director of Business Development and the CEO to ensure success of outreach and marketing initiatives
  • Monitors and analyzes results and trends; reports on performance and makes recommendations to improve metrics and efficiencies
  • Engages with Give2Asia Foundation in Hong Kong and Give2Asia Australia, as well as Give2Asia’s strategic global partners, on joint business development activities

External:

  • Manages external marketing resources including web, PR, content, events, and design vendors to complete projects and meet marketing needs of the entire organization
  • Works closely with partner organizations on joint business development activities
  • Serves as a visible representative of the organization at conferences, events, business meetings, and other external settings that may involve donors, partners, prospective clients, grantees, and other constituents

JOB FUNCTIONS

Expanding Give2Asia’s donor base:

The Business Development Associate is part of a focused team responsible for business development activities that target corporate, family, and foundation donors. This person will have responsibilities to meet annual targets that grow the number of client funds along with related increases in total year-to-year contributions into Give2Asia.

Contributing to measures of success for Give2Asia:

Supporting the four-year strategic plan and annual growth goals established for the organization to steadily growing the size and diversity of donors being served by Give2Asia.

Managing a Business Development pipeline:

Tracking a Business Development pipeline from initial prospect identification through to transitioning new clients to the stewardship team for ongoing management.

Delivering on annual business development plans:

Meeting the annual goals set in Give2Asia’s annual business development plan that grow new donors and new funds, expanding contributions and fee revenue, and improvements in outreach and stewardship.

Managing marketing activities:

Integrating Give2Asia’s business development activities with marketing contractors. This will include maintaining and managing a stable of excellent contractors that support content generation, design, direct marketing, and web communications to support visibility across the organization.

External representation:

Representing Give2Asia at conferences at events, as well as industry and client events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience, with significant business development and sales experience in the philanthropic, nonprofit, social investment, and/or financial sectors.
  • Committed to – and enthusiastic about – the mission of Give2Asia, and able to engage others to join as partners and clients of Give2Asia; an abiding interest in building a platform for effective philanthropy that supports the Asia Pacific region;
  • Capable sales and/or business development skills including the ability to present and support communications in one-on-one meetings; understanding and interest in marketing activities that build visibility; and experience interacting with donors/clients and internal teams;
  • Experience and ability to effectively promote business development and program activities to build overall visibility for the organization;
  • Knowledge of and personal experience with philanthropic and nonprofit organizations;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse cultural settings and with international teams;
  • Outstanding communications skills;
  • A history of communicating effectively and persuasively in both large and small groups;
  • Excellent writing and public speaking skills for both formal and extemporaneous presentations;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: US$50,000 to US$60,000 annual depending on experience
