Regional Retail Sales Manager – East Region

Additional Information

HDI offers a competitive compensation package. Salary for this position can range from $75,000 annually to $100,000 (including incentives/bonuses), based on experience. In addition to pay, comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Life, Health Club Membership Contribution and a 401k with a company match program. We also provide a company vehicle and cover travel expenses.

We are looking for a Regional Retail Sales Manager to help us both maintain and grow our existing territories in Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana and Northern Nevada and Utah.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coach, motivate and train sales reps to achieve maximum potential
  • Plan and conduct monthly sales team meetings
  • Jointly establish territory objectives w/ Division Manager
  • Monitor sales reps’ daily, weekly, monthly and annual progress on
  • Sales
  • GM $ and %
  • New Business
  • Growth of existing business
  • Growth of lines
  • Growth of vendor business within key buying groups (AD and PRO)
  • Sale of new vendor programs and/or new products
  • Closeout sales
  • Complete weekly goal status updates weekly for each member of your team
  • Work alongside reps on adding and documenting value for their key accounts
  • Travel with sales reps visiting key accounts on a quarterly basis
  • Develop management relationship and presence in key accounts
  • Assess sales reps’ strengths and weaknesses
  • Assess territories
  • Look for opportunities in new and existing accounts
  • Ensure seamless service when outside sales reps are away from their territory (vacations, seminars, etc.)
  • Work with other HDI managers to resolve problems and internal obstacles faced by outside sales reps
  • Look for opportunities in systems or procedures to assist productivity of outside sales reps
  • Assist in emergency customer needs

Develop relationships at all levels with top 20% of accounts that generate 80% of sales

  • Conduct annual review of HDI performance with key accounts
  • Document and share value provided by HDI
  • Train sales reps on how to maximize their use of technology in the sales process (use of HDI website, scanners, spreadsheets, laptops, email, quotes, etc.)
  • Look for additional opportunities to expand our market share in each of these accounts

Implement strategic marketing plan to develop new accounts

  • Identify potential new markets to serve
  • By industry
  • By geography
  • Develop prospect marketing plan
  • Target key accounts with Industrial Business Development Specialist
  • Monitor progress of new business development in each territory
  • Participate in trade shows geared to targeted markets

Represent HDI in contact with vendor reps for vendors related to the Retail Division

  • Review performance and new opportunities with current vendors
  • Review new products with existing vendors
  • Review and assisting in selection and placement of new vendors
  • Assist in scheduling training meetings and joint calls
  • Identify and eliminate slow or dead merchandise

Plan and carry out successful annual Spring Blitz road shows and fall EXPO trade shows as evidenced by goal achievement

Assist in leading a successful annual sales meeting (February) measured by new opportunities identified and corresponding territory sales increases throughout that calendar year

Actively participate in HDI’s annual MBO budgeting and planning meeting and in weekly manager’s meetings

Actively participate in relevant trade shows when/where applicable

Travel out of town 2-3 nights per month.

Qualifications

  • Must have two or more years of outside sales management experience with a demonstrated track record of retention and above average growth. Industry related experience is desirable but not required
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, personable, well organized, and works well independently and with other team members
  • Proficient working with technology including, but not limited to, MS Office, email and online research, etc.
  • Must have ability to identify and develop prospects into healthy, long-term customers
  • Four-year college degree
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel overnight for several nights per month
