Full description of the position

MathWorks has a hybrid work model that enables staff members to split their time between office and home. The hybrid model provides the advantage of having both in-person time with colleagues and flexible at-home life optimizations. Learn More: [please apply online] This position will own development and evolution of departmental dashboards, scorecards and production reporting across our Sales and Services Teams. This business intelligence professional will enable business decision making and actionable insight to departmental leadership, managers, and staff by providing visibility into the most important business metrics for each business area.

Keys to success in this role include the development of expertise in our departmental business data and key business metrics. This position will require the ability to work with a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences to translate business needs into functional requirements within our business intelligence data warehouse. In addition, the ability to organize and present data and visualizations that resonate with business users.

The person in this role will leverage and develop expertise in SQL, Microsoft Power BI, and SAP Business Objects.

  • This person will develop business insight via departmental dashboards, reports, and scorecards
  • Engage with a variety of managers and staff within Sales Operations, Sales, Marketing, and IT to develop relevant and insightful business intelligence
  • Interface with internal business intelligence development teams to evolve available data and make it applicable to the business
  • Create dashboards/reports leveraging Power BI and SQL to centralize business area reporting for various roles in Sales and Services

  • Experience with relational database concepts and structures
  • Experience with requirements gathering/refinement in partnership with business users
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage SQL to extract and structure data for business use
  • Experience helping business users understand and apply data and metrics to their business needs
  • Familiarity with DAX, variables, and formulas to automate data calculations
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills while being able to communicate project status clearly to teams

  • Proficiency with SQL

  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools
  • Experience with Power BI
  • A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.
