Full description of the position

Introduction
A Technology Sales Engineer - Security - U.S. Federal Market is responsible for providing industry-leading solutions to help our clients face into the challenges of cloud security, advanced threats, compliance and privacy, and mobile and remote security.

Technology Sales Engineers covering the US Federal Market act as technical consultants to clients and IBM sellers, and provide technical sales support, such as delivering Proofs of Concept (POC) and architecting
Brand Technical Specialist. As a Brand Technical Specialist, you will work with our clients to understand their requirements and use cases to co-create and architect solutions to defend against the emerging security threats. You will be a technical expert who designs viable client solutions by leveraging current product capabilities while providing input to product teams for solutions refinement. You are a hands-on practitioners with a focus on customized experiential selling – “show me, don’t tell me” approach.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Technology Sales Engineer - Security - U.S. Federal Market, you'll work closely with clients to develop relationships, understand their needs, earn their trust, and show them how IBM's industry leading solutions will solve their problems whilst delivering value to their business.

  • Developing strategies for clients in the design and technical build-out of the infrastructure, applications, and management of anything security-related.
  • Defining and detailing feasible IBM Security solutions that complement and enhance clients' existing tech stacks.
  • Delivering proof of concepts and simplifying difficult, technical topics into understandable client education.
  • Consultatively building credibility and trust at all levels, internally and externally, to close highly complex Cloud technology deals.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Strong Security technical skills and deep knowledge of Security Solutions. (SIEM, SOAR, XDR/ EDR, Attack Surface Management Platform, Identity Access Management, Mobility, Guardium)
  • Ability to customize and deliver technical accelerators to progress opportunities. This includes but is not limited to demonstrations, workshops, and Proof-of-Concepts.
  • Experiential selling – ability to value sell the technology in a compelling way to teach and challenge clients (Show not Tell) with a confident and opinionated point of view.
  • Understands how to leverage technical accelerators to win architectural battles and Technology Decision Points as applicable.
  • Ability to accelerate adoption of solutions with proven use cases by partnering with Customer Success team.
  • Ability to enable and assist Ecosystem on IBM technologies to expand scale and reach.
  • US Federal Experience.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Depth and breadth of knowledge regarding the Security market to consult and advise, and quickly grow your reputation as your clients' credible, trusted advisor.
  • Strong preference for intermediate to expert technical knowledge in the Security space.
  • RedHat/OpenShift
  • Security Clearance Highly Preferred

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.

This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
