Full description of the position

Description: Calculates pricing estimates for customers covering all types of printing/project requests, including but not limited to, screen printing and digital imaging, by analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals and other documents needed to complete an accurate price estimate. Works closely with the President in order to streamline the sales process and help ensure customer needs are being met and balanced with the Company's ability to respond, especially regarding customer needs and delivery of products.Receives quotation requests from sales, customer service department, and customers. Detailed specifications will be provided. Creates project proposals using complete and accurate costs that meet Company objectives.Gathers all information necessary to estimate job prices including artwork, materials, subcontracts, labor and outside purchases.Prepares project proposal paperwork from ERP System, and at times, create a custom proposal document. Typical procedure is to send proposal to sales rep, but at times, may be requested to send directly to customer, or President for review.Monitors gross profit level. Takes appropriate action as necessary to be sure gross profit objectives are met (review with sales rep / bring to President's attention).Upon proposal acceptance by customer, converts estimate into order and follow procedures to do so.Issues purchase orders for material and services required for each job which are not considered inventoried items (Outside Purchases / OSP's). Orders all inks as requested by staff.Run PO receipt reports each Friday to identify late arrivals of items ordered. Contact vendor for status.Works with the President to balance price and profit against market penetration when entering new markets. Controls sales figures in an accurate, orderly and balanced manner. Works closely with the Production Manager and the President to analyze actual project results against pricing estimates to be sure estimates are reasonable and accurate.Maintains and continues to develop product knowledge of alternative offerings and methods that may be of benefit to the Company through on-going training, study and observation of technical/product trends, new product developments and competitive actions.Makes sure all his customer information submitted to the President and/or Production Manager is accurate, timely and complete consistent with good record keeping.Proactively investigates, seeks out and recommends better ways to improve sales, profits and save money through better operating methods, the elimination of duplicate or unnecessary duties and other means consistent with improving quality & service to the customer.Confers, meets with and provides assistance to the President and Production Manager to help resolve general company problems and needs, especially in the area of sales.Files completed job jackets and maintains organization of filing area and system including end of the year filing and creating place for upcoming year's job jackets. Skills: Estimation, Project coordination, manufacturing, pricing, quoting, proposals, erp system, purchase order, screen printing, digital printing, graphics Top Skills Details: estimate, quote, pricing estimate calculation, analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, screen printing, digital imaging Additional Skills & Qualifications: One to three years of experience in an estimating position using math and computer skills One to three years of experience within a print environment similar to company, in order to apply the knowledge towards the estimating position.Ability in English to read, analyze and interpret basic business documents and specifications relating to printing work, labor and materials. Ability to effectively present information to small customer groups and interact effectively with Management. Ability to write effective business letters.Ability to understand and use algebraic and basic math, in order to apply discounts, interest, commissions, percentages and ratios. Have an understanding of geometry to interpret space, shape and size dimensions. An estimating math test will be given during the application process.Must be computer literate with one to four years of experience using computers in a business environment (ERP Systems). Must know and have basic experience using Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of pricing or accounting software is a major benefit.
