Job Description: Sales Manager
Job Summary:
The Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her market segments as well as servicing all accounts. The position is responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues.
Qualification Summary:
Education & Experience:
· High School diploma or GED certification or equivalent work experience
· College degree preferred
· Hospitality Experience Preferred
· Strong financial knowledge required
· Valid driver’s license from the appropriate state
Physical Requirements:
· Long and flexible hours required
· Must be able to sit, stand, and walk long periods of time.
· Light work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Mental Requirements:
· Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written.
· Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
· Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results.
· Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
· Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
· Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
· Must be effective at listening to, understand and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
· Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic function.
· Must be able to prioritize departmental functions to meet due dates and deadlines
Duties and Functions:
· Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
· Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Summit Management Corporation standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
· Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which includes a nametag when working.
· Comply at all times with Summit Management Corporation’s standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
· Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
· Have knowledge and understanding of all department policies and procedures, and communicate and enforce all policies fairly and consistently with staff.
· Participate in hotel management programs such as Manager or Duty, Lobby Ambassador, and other management coverage plans.
Duties Specific to Sales
· Meet or exceed set goals.
· Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services, and Reservations
· Actively participate in creating and executing hotel sales and marketing action plans.
· Operate within the established sales expense budget.
· Initiate and follow up on leads as generated by self or others.
· Be familiar with hotel layout and menus with pricing.
· Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned.
· Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections.
· Produce or assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
· Be familiar with all Summit Management Corporation’s sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and average daily rate (ADR).
· Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property.
· Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
· Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
· Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program.
· Meet and greet onsite contacts. Must be “on call” to meet any client needs.
· Actively participate in community networking organizations in coordination with other managers.
· Participation in community programs outside of networking organizations highly encouraged.
· Be proficient with the computerized sales management system to manage the hotel’s business, including (but not limited to) generating reports, entering business, blocking space and building accounts.
· Be proficient with any hotels sales and catering software system as well as all brand site tools and property management system functions.
· Be familiar with other computer software necessary for the job.
· Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST).
· Perform other duties as requested by management.
· Attend all training and meetings as required by management.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
