POSITION: Director of Sales
DEPARTMENT: Sales

Summary:
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent opening for the Director of Sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for developing clear goals and standards for sales department.
  • Oversee convention center booking calendar.
  • Prepare bid proposals, perform site tours, and negotiate terms for prospective business.
  • Write lease agreements for business to be booked.
  • Represent the facility in industry-related trade shows.
  • Prepare and ensure compliance with all lease agreements.
  • Prepare monthly sales reports for the General Manager.
  • Represent Sales Department in interdepartmental matters.
  • Represent ASM and Denny Sanford Premier Center within the community (networking events, fundraisers, ribbon cuttings, etc.)
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets.
  • Design programs to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Create annual convention center sales budget.
  • Prepare reports for the General Manager as requested.
  • Track booking pace and coordinate appropriate action if adjustments are needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises managers in the Sales Department. The Director of Sales carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ sales experience required.
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience required.
  • Facility/Industry experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks at a time.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff.
  • Ability to take initiative to make independent decisions.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • High aptitude for figures and advanced writing skills.
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
