In the role of Sales Manager, you will set the sales plan and sales objectives with the Director of Sales for the organization and the sales team. The Sales Manager requires an initiative-taking, sales-driven mindset, and a high-level view of the guest life cycle. You should come to Trek Travel with successful previous experience as a Sales Manager, with a demonstrable record of consistently meeting or exceeding targets. You have a strong business sense and are a ‘player/coach’ who thrives on seeing the team win.

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

LEADERSHIP

  • Development: Motivates and encourages sales team to ensure goals are met.

  • Create daily/weekly/monthly targets for each Trip Consultant.

  • Contribute information and recommendations to company’s strategic plans and reviews.

  • Prepare and complete action plans (OKR’s); implement production, productivity, quality, and guest-service standards; resolve problems; identify trends.

  • Budgeting: Forecast, plan and manage budget for staffing needs and operational needs of Sales Department.

  • Teamwork: Foster cross-departmental relationships across the company to help meet unified team goals.

  • Learn-It-All: Develop job knowledge and leadership skills by using available resources, reading professional materials, participating in learning opportunities.

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Manage a team of inside sales representatives/consultants.

  • Manage people planning, including working with Human Resources on recruiting and hiring.

  • Set individual sales representative objectives, provide continuous coaching with consistent one-on-one meetings.

  • Consistent pipeline and performance monitoring of all sales representatives.

  • Build a strong sales culture of hunter-gatherers. Train your team to mine for opportunity and leverage their own ‘book of business.’

  • We need the BEST TEAM ON THE FIELD – you hold people accountable and are comfortable coaching people ‘up or out’ to make sure we maintain the highest performing sales team.

  • Conducts continuous improvement feedback and performance evaluations that is timely and constructive.

  • Mentoring team members to understand and deliver their full potential.

ADDITIONAL POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive, strategic sales plan that includes our current (and future) channels.

  • Collaborate with Director of Sales and leadership team to develop sales goals and strategies - annual 3-year planning.

  • Drive the sales process from plan to close to achieve year over year sales growth by hitting sales targets.

  • Collaborate with marketing to maximize the sales pipeline by having a deep understanding of the marketing funnel. Create sales promotions.

  • Strong ownership/stewardship of both our call-center and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software.

  • Evaluate current sales practices and procedures to determine whether they are effective in generating sales. Recommend and implement improvements to current sales practices and procedures as needed.

  • Collaborate with Trip Design and Logistics on frequent product/bike training and build a continuous improvement culture in the sales department. Create a sales improvement ‘engine.’

  • Report high level by channel sales performance to the company - daily, weekly, monthly.

  • Scheduling the team: phone schedule, online chat, leads etc.

  • Evaluate, create, and carry out service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Resolutions of guest feedback and other situations that may stand in the way of efficient sales operations.

  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.

  • Availability Monday-Friday – occasional weekend possible in high selling season: December – April.

  • Weekend on call for emergencies from guests or guides.
