Position Summary

Provide prompt and courteous service to customers that includes: sales, merchandising, order processing, pricing, product research, promotional activities and all aspects of customer service. Showroom stocking, organization and cleaning are required on an as needed basis.

Essential Job Function

  • Greet customers in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Provide prompt, courteous service by listening to the customers needs and requests and respond accordingly.
  • Expeditious and accurate processing of any and all customer warranty claims and credit returns due to broader knowledge of vendors. Completing all appropriate documentation, receiving product items back prior to processing of any claims or credits in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Recommend additional products for purchase to customers and enter sales orders into Sales Order Entry System. Process credit card payments or receive cash payments all in accordance with cash handling policy and SOP’s.
  • Answer incoming customer telephone calls and provide all aspects of customer service by; providing quotes or taking sales orders, research products/services and answering general information questions.
  • Maintain Min / Max flow of product in showroom and displays by; stocking merchandise, facing shelves, organizing product in accordance to merchandising plan-o-gram, removing litter and dusting and cleaning shelves.
  • Balance individual daily sales transactions to payments received in accordance with the company’s cash handling policy.
  • Identify old, obsolete, slow moving, or damaged inventory and bring this to the attention of the Store Manager for mark-down and quick sale.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and professional personal appearance.
  • Attend training seminars on products and services in order to acquire product knowledge in order to provide informed and effective customer service.
  • Proactively promote monthly flyers and special promotions by calling customers to attempt to close on additional sales of promotional items in order to enhance counter sales.
  • Alert immediate supervisor when showroom sales are brisk to avert long waiting times for customers.
  • Perform other duties as requested in order to maintain our high level of customer service through timely and effective teamwork.

Education, Work Experience & Specialized Skills or Knowledge

  • High School or general education degree (G.E.D.)
  • Excellent knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite of Software (Excel, Word, Outlook.)
  • 3 – 5 years of previous retail / wholesale or customer service experience desired.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers.
  • Excellent knowledge of a broad scope of HVAC/R equipment and products with their 36 – 60 months of industry experience.
  • Acquired, specific (expert) knowledge in one or more given product lines (i.e., refrigeration, motors, compressors, refrigeration load calculations, commercial product lines, etc.)
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English language.
  • Ability to complete basic math applications.
  • Analytical abilities desired in order perform product and equipment research.
  • Proven abilities to attend to details.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize responsibilities and duties.
  • Above average communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work with minimum amount of supervision under stressful conditions.
  • Proficiency in RF Scanner knowledge and experience.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
