About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to drive adoption of the systemic sales process and run a focused development program designed to transition program participants into a Commercial Banking career.

**Position location can be in Kansas City, MO -OR- St. Louis, MO**

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a thought leader in establishing CRM sales adoption strategy and collaborate with CRM team to ensure a sales product roadmap that aligns with the sales process while gaining the buy in and support of leaders at all levels of the organization. Build peer relationships with external business-to-business training program leaders to share best practices.

  • Identify and report on CRM key performance indicators related to program success and user adoption

  • Act as change agent with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, business lines, and functional areas

  • Partner closely with business leaders, commercial training team, and cross functional teams to identify and address challenges, skill gaps, and training needs to help create and deliver an effective training road map across the segment. Partner with internal instructional design team members and coaches to ensure effective learning solutions

  • Oversee training delivery and thought leadership to sales, sales management, and sales support personnel across the Commercial Segment.

  • Partner with our Early Career Program Manager and Talent Acquisition to develop and implement new strategies to source and recruit program participants for future placement in our expansion markets. This includes actively engaging in onsite recruiting efforts such as college campus events and career fairs.

  • Design and negotiate cross-functional rotations for participants across various business lines to complement their commercial banking knowledge and create an accelerated onboarding and development plan to prepare participants for a Commercial Banking role

  • Develop curriculum for participants focused on our systematic sales process, end-to-end loan origination and servicing, commercial credit underwriting and commercial payments solution portfolio

  • Identify success metrics and accountability measures for program participants and development partners

  • Determine feedback loop and evaluate program outcomes

  • Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow with guidance on departmental projects/issues, and provide coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs

  • Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required

  • Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members effectively

  • Support budget management, planning and expenditure

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Strong knowledge of the Commercial Banking, financial services, and/or accounting field, including knowledge of best practices

  • Ability to execute a strong executive presence with the ability to influence and effectively communicate with senior leadership and beyond

  • Intermediate analytical skills using financial and accounting principles

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply discretion and sound judgement to efficiently and effectively solve problems

  • Ability to drive results and balance management of organizational risk and meeting goals of the business

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team members and foster a positive team environment that gives way to collaboration and unified goals

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the company, clearly expressing ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 6+ years banking or complex business to business sales experience required

  • 3+ years leadership/supervisory experience required
