If this sounds like you, Arbor Youth Services wants to talk to you about an exciting opportunity to join our team. As Director of Development Operations, you will work across the organization to oversee, manage, and refine Arbor Youth Services' fundraising and stewardship activities and systems.

Position Description: Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position’s responsibility is to provide strategic oversight and management of fundraising activity and performance across the organization. This includes managing donor acquisition, cultivation, and retention activities, including gift processing, grant writing and reporting, public relations and social media, and event planning.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identify grant opportunities, write grant applications, and report on funded grants.
  • Develop and implement an annual grants calendar to apply for funding from private foundations, corporate giving programs and the government, as best fits the needs of Arbor and as funding is available. Ensure all funders receive proper recognition for their grants, maintain the necessary records and submit the required paperwork once funding has been received.
  • Develop and implement practices to accurately and comprehensively track and document all donor information and activity into Arbor’s CRM database, Bloomerang.
  • Identify prospective donors with the capacity, charitable inclinations and interests to provide major support once they learn about the mission and its programs and services. Identified prospects will be added to Arbor's newsletter mailing list, invited to the annual fundraiser, and sent a personal note requesting a meeting. Establish relationships by meeting with them in person, inviting them to a tour and maintaining contact with those who express interest in the mission of Arbor.
  • Coordinate public relations for Arbor, including communication with media, social media activity, and keeping the website up to date. This includes developing and implementing an annual plan to communicate with media (newspapers, radio and television outlets, podcasts, etc.) to ensure special events are promoted and stories of life change are being shared.
  • Develop and update publicity materials as needed, including an annual report, brochures, donation materials, and flyers. Ensure that up-to-date and quality photographs are available for these materials by arranging for photographers to shoot special events and at all Arbor locations on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate special events, including the annual Bluegrass Bash event including a silent auction. Work with community partners and local businesses to arrange third-party fundraising events.
  • Work collaboratively and strategically with the leadership team and Board of Directors, to plan, organize, and execute regular donor events and engagement opportunities.
  • Oversee the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure this person is creating and sustaining a relational connection with volunteers, engaging them in the vitality of service and furthering the transformational work of Arbor.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • A working knowledge of local, state, and federal fundraising laws and regulations
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, and donors
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills
  • Ability to develop and implement short-term and long-range plans

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or 5 years of development experience in the workforce
  • At least three years of fundraising experience required
  • Experience writing federal grant proposals required
  • Experience coordinating events preferred
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
