The Embassy Suites by Hilton Richmond is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Meeting/Catering Sales Manager to join our team. This is a full time salaried position with full benefits package after 30 days. Hilton Hotels travel discounts!

$50,000-$55,000/yr plus bonus potential.


Job Summary:


The Executive Meeting Manager/Catering Sales Manager is designed to qualify, contract and successfully oversee all meetings (package and non-package) with 25 rooms or less through completion. The EMM/CSM is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts that produce food, beverage and event revenue within the parameters above. He/she is also responsible for prospecting, upselling and closing on assigned accounts to positively impact the hotel’s top line food and beverage and event revenues based on the goals assigned to the hotel. The manager is responsible for adhering to all the standard operating procedures and policies to sell, service to ensure profitability and repeat guests.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive proposal request responses, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • Negotiates rates, prepares and closes sales contract; discusses all aspects of group meeting and prepares group resume and banquet event orders.
  • Obtains customer signatures on all documents, and collects payment in a timely manner
  • Communicates events to banquet and food/beverage staff for proper meeting room set, menu preparation and timeliness of group events per confirmed banquet event orders
  • Maintains accurate records of all sales calls, proposals, contracts and lost business
  • Creates and conducts presentations and sales calls; attends trade shows as needed.
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
  • Good communication to all areas of hotel through accurate resumes, banquet event orders; and participation in in-house meetings, such as resume, BEO meeting, sales and credit meeting
  • Conducts outside sales calls and schedule appointments with a focus on site inspections
  • Any other duties as assigned by Management

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED certification required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or extensive experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • 2 or more years of hotel and sales experience preferred.
  • Strong financial knowledge required.
  • Valid driver’s license from the appropriate state.
  • Driving record approved by insurance carrier guidelines.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and possess basic mathematical skills
