As the Area Director of Sales for Marcus Hotels & Resorts Milwaukee Market you will lead the Sales team through management, coordination, and execution of sales operations for three (3) full-service properties: Hilton Milwaukee City Center, The Pfister Hotel and Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel. We are seeking an engaged business partner and leader who will ensure the highest level of customer service at all times and assist to drive the strategy behind bringing vibrant activity into all rooms and event spaces to each of our Milwaukee properties.

Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the strategic planning, goal setting, planning and development of all market segments, contract and booking approval, sales booking assignment, and overseeing sales efforts for all Milwaukee Market Sales Managers.
  • Direct oversight of up to ten (10) sales managers.
  • Account prospecting, solicitation, and development via telephone, personal contact, outside calls, correspondence, email and other means of communication. Individual should be able to train sales team on business development techniques and strategies.
  • Individual account management of key accounts and/or segments of group business and negotiated (business travel) segments.
  • Conduct hotel site inspections, entertain both in house and off property, and maintain thorough follow up methods.
  • Representing the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, The Pfister Hotel and Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel at trade shows, civic/business functions, industry-related associations, and other events to promote the hotel and/or the city.
  • Attend meetings including, but not limited to, pre-convention, business review, profit and loss, executive operating committee, marketing, departmental and any other meetings deemed necessary to your position.
  • Community involvement is a pillar in leadership at Marcus hotels. Presence and involvement, much of which is before/after business hours is an expectation of this position.
  • Acts as liaison between Convention Center, CVB and other industry partnerships.
  • Acts as liaison between Sales Manager(s) and Event Manager(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a sales leader or assistant sales leader.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Four-year college degree preferred, however, any combination of education and training within hotel sales and/or event planning may also be considered.
  • Proven results in a leadership role.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel and oversight of events.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Thorough knowledge of Delphi Systems, Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Association and Specialty market segments.
  • Prior experience partnering with Convention Center and/or CVB business
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time.
  • Ability to meet departmental/hotel financial and sales objectives.
  • Ability to organize detailed information.
  • This is a full-time in office position with limited remote opportunity

  • Meet deadlines for reports, proposals, contracts, contract reviews and all other correspondence
