Primary Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the Manager-Sales Promotion Department, inquire on availability, promote, sell purchases, plan, arrange and coordinate group tours, create proposals of JTBs original plan, unit tariff of group tours, create new ideas. Assist management with staff training.

1. With Manager and Assistant Manager, coordinate and conduct sales efforts of Tourism and Events for groups.
2. Enforce departmental and company policies and procedures.
3. Direct, train, and motivate staff members.

Analyze and Resolve Work Issues
1. Analyze and resolve work issues and concerns; respond to and assist staff members in solving work problems, interpersonal conflicts among staff members. Seek guidance from Human Resources.
2. Attend meetings to hand over a definite tour to Group Travel Arrangement or Customer Service staff.

Consult and Negotiate
1. Check availability of hotels, banquets, cruise and other venues, negotiate price as needed to support JTB sales offices in order to compete with other agents.
2. Provide information to JTB USA Japan and sales office about hotels, banquets and new product to increase profit for each tour.
3. Plan, sell, organize, arrange, input data into TOGO system, and coordinate special events for various group tours and individual customers. Transmit details of tour arrangements to personnel in all departments of JTB Hawaii and to sales offices in Japan.
4. Contact, consult, and negotiate with business partners to book hotels, arrange special events.
5. Research information related to hotels, banquets, restaurants and other locations; respond to inquiries from all clients, and provide updated information to JTB USA Japan and sales offices in Japan.
6. Research, review tour and customers requirements, and utilize information to create related programs.
7. Meet with tour escorts or organizers to promote tours. Attend site inspections and meetings.

1. Review procedures and improve efficiency of department operations to maintain a high level of work accuracy and productivity.
2. Assist other departments or sections, when needed.

Assist with handling group tours, events for individual customers and related projects for annual events such as MAUI Marathon, Honolulu Marathon, Honolulu Festival, special events and technical visits for incentive tours.

Secondary Functions:
1. Serve as backup in absence of Manager.
2. Assist with Japanese or English translations.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Bachelors degree or commensurate experience.
2. Possess a minimum of three (3) years experience in group tour arrangement, event handling, or equivalent experience, and a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
3. Able to professionally and effectively communicate with employees, business partners, and clients in English and Japanese, via written and verbal communication methods.
4. Possess working knowledge of Hawaiis tourism infrastructure, Japanese tour characteristics, and Japanese culture and customs.
5. Able to work independently and work cooperatively with employees, business partners, and customers in a professional and positive manner.
6. Possess working knowledge and skills with basic computer systems and software, application programs, presentation programs, e-mail and standard office equipment. Possess working knowledge of JTBs in-house computer applications and systems.
7. Possess valid Drivers license with clean abstract preferred.
Working Conditions

Working Hours:
Normal business hours: 8:00 a.m.5:00 p.m., and as deemed necessary.
Working Environment
1. Air-conditioned office or, remote workplace.
2. Frequent travel to various locations outside of the office and Hawaii, where weather conditions may vary, but not limited to noise, pollution, dust, fumes and vehicle exhaust.
Equipment Used
PC, printer, digital camera, digital video camera, facsimile machine, copy machine, and other standard office equipment, motor vehicle (with prior management approval).
