Purpose:
To build a sustainable fundraising program through which Family Programs Hawai‘i can fulfill its mission to serve children and families. Collaborates with the Board of Directors and Staff to meet the outcomes in the Strategic and Operational Plan.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for all aspects of fund development with a focus on building out a donor base for annual gifts. In addition, major and legacy giving will be incorporated into the plan.
- This position will also be involved in the agency’s fundraising events and work with volunteers.
- Work with the Board of Director’s Development and Communication committee.
- Assists President/CEO in providing guidance to the Board in the development of future fundraising endeavors.
- Directs the agency's volunteer program, including the development of funds to support volunteers. Provides assistance to the PV Volunteer Coordinator or contracted entity.
- Develops community fundraising such as events, direct mail campaigns, digital media, etc.
- Develops and monitors all funding opportunities, including peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and Legacy giving programs.
- Develops and updates all agency communications including newsletters, annual reports, appeals, website, brochures and collateral as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the President/CEO, including administrative management tasks and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Three years of fund development (donor engagement and fundraising) experience or related experience.
- Experience working with donors and volunteers.
- Knowledge or familiarity with donor-based programs.
- Knowledge of computer with MS Office experience in using Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of the local community.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong networking skills.
- A balance of assertiveness and diplomacy is critical, as well as effective listening skills and excellent communications skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with board, senior management, staff and the community is essential.
- A valid driver’s license, clean driving abstract and access to an insured, reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain good working relationships with clients, coworkers and donors.
- Carry a highly developed service orientation and sensitivity toward people of diverse cultures, socio-economic backgrounds and lifestyles
- Able to use standard office equipment including computer, fax machine, copier, electric typewriter
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- The job duties require an employee to handle the physical demands of the work including lifting/moving files, sitting for a long period of time, working on computer for a long period of time, bend, stoop, etc.
