SUMMARY

With the guidance of the Residential Sales Manager, the Territory Manager assumes full responsibility for HVAC Contractor sales including but not limited to equipment brands and support products. Territory Manager’s roles will vary depending on the needs of their customers. When necessary, they will attend training classes to acquire the skills necessary to meet their customers’ needs and expectations. The ultimate goal with each account assigned to the TM will be to establish a consultative relationship targeted towards mutual growth and profitability. The foundation of that relationship should be based on MN Air’s core values. A Territory Manager must have a genuine concern about their customers’ well-being and success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists assigned accounts with business planning, credits and collections, participation in programs such as Carriers’ Factory Authorized Dealer and Presidents Award.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of basic HVAC accounting principles and proficiency with company provided tools such as financial leadership software programs.
  • Effectively demonstrates the ability to analyze individual markets in assigned territories to identify sales opportunities and market penetration.
  • Utilizes and encourages participation in all sales and marketing programs offered by Minnesota Air.
  • Maintains direct personal contact with all assigned accounts and responds in a timely (24 hours or less) manner to all requests for information, projects, quotations.
  • Serves as a host at all dealer meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive trips and all other similar functions.
  • Willingly participates as requested in Home Product shows, Utility Sponsored events, Industry Associations, etc.
  • When called upon, Territory Managers will assist in resolving customer relationship problems with both dealers and end users.
  • Has a complete knowledge of all assigned product lines.
  • Keeps current on all new product offerings and product changes within assigned product lines.
  • Assists in providing sales and product training to key dealership personnel as requested by the customer or MN Air management.
  • Familiarity with competitive HVAC product advantages and disadvantages.
  • Provides competitive product, program and pricing information as requested by Minnesota Air management.
  • Knows what equipment, systems, components and controls are best suited for various residential and light commercial project applications.
  • Acts as a liaison between the customer and Minnesota Air engineering, service, warranty administration and credit departments.
  • Effectively presents MN Air products and services and can overcome barriers to close the sale.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide solutions to customers’ needs in a win – win fashion.
  • Accompanies assigned accounts on sales calls to end-users when requested.
  • Acts as a resource of ideas to dealers on how to promote and sell assigned product lines.
  • Is aware of all merchandising support materials and programs available from the manufacturers for all assigned products.
  • Helps dealers establish effective sales and marketing plans to best utilize co-op dollars made available to them.
  • Participates in the development of MN Air programs and promotions targeted to both the dealer and the end user.
  • Sees that all required reports are properly completed and submitted on time.
  • Has thorough knowledge of dealer programs, retail credit, warranty, etc.
  • Participates in continuous learning & development and training initiatives through department specific trainings, MN Air University, HR training programs, tech-support led courses, Webinars, or other job-related trainings to foster a continuous learning and development mindset.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to effectively use a computer and all software provided by MN Air and their suppliers. E.g. PowerPoint, “Quote Builder”, Infor System, Excel, Outlook, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • HVAC Certificate from a technical school and/or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or
  • One to three years’ sales experience
  • Valid Drivers’ License (required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel to see accounts in person, 3-4 days per week.
  • Requires travel and overnight stays as required to meet sales call schedule.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
