Description:

The Business Development Coordinator assists with organizational effectiveness by providing support for the Business Development (“BD”) team whose mission is to identify, develop, and secure new recruitment opportunities. The individual would work with the team to help generate leads, maintain client relationships, and coordinate promotional activities. In addition, he/she would manage scheduling, and perform duties such as financial record keeping, coordination of meetings & direct mailings, and working on special projects that may contain confidential and sensitive information. He/she would also deal with a diverse group of important external clients and partners as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:


  • Coordinate lead generation and business development activities including initial prospect outreach and response.
  • Serve as initial point of contact for individuals seeking general and/or specific information about doing business in North Carolina, managing appropriate disposition of incoming inquiries
  • Conduct initial calls for domestic lead traffic from the EDPNC website, as well as internal referrals using detailed knowledge of state program eligibility requirements, evaluate caller’s request to determine appropriate next steps.
  • Summarize details from calls/emails in Salesforce, EDPNC’s Client Relations Management (CRM) system. Create Salesforce records including leads, contacts, and opportunities. Coordinate with Director – Business Development, to assign leads for management or continue to personally manage, based on BD Manager workload and related factors.
  • Proactively identify and nurture corporate business recruitment leads through the website, trade shows, and internal referrals that can be developed and transferred to the Business Recruitment team.
  • Work with partner organizations to maintain relationships, utilize knowledge, and streamline process for BD team as prospect pertains to certain area or sector.
  • Manage the operational systems, processes and policies in support of the BD team’s goals (e.g., support management reporting and manage the team’s event schedule).
  • Work independently and within cross-functional teams on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
  • Represent North Carolina at targeted industry trade shows utilizing both third-party lead generation and booth traffic to generate effective ROI from show.
  • Oversee BD team members’ compliance with IT and Finance & Administration requirements, deadlines, etc., in order to ensure adherence with EDPNC processes, etc.
  • Proactively manage, organize, and update filing systems for the BD team to ensure team member consistency (i.e., server, ShareFile, and Salesforce CRM). Generate and analyze reports based on data retrieved from said databases to drive development and execution of team strategy. Provide periodic updates to the team regarding filing systems.

Respond to regularly occurring requests for information (RFIs). Organize and prioritize information.

  • Serve as a point of contact to interact with and provide information to other EDPNC departments and outside entities. This would include interaction with executive-level staff in a variety of industries. Handle confidential and non-routine information and explain policies when necessary.
Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of administrative/business experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in a related occupation
  • Knowledge of state economic development resources and issues is highly desired

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Customer service-focused attitude and behavior
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas)
  • Ability to interface professionally with senior-level business and government executives
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work
  • Proficiency in Salesforce preferred

LICENSES AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Passport within first 12 months of employment
