Position Summary:

Responsible for working in collaboration with the Vice President of Network Management and SVP of Regional Operations to identify, develop and oversee opportunities for development, growth, and oversight of broker agencies within a specified region. Coordinates or performs projects/activities as delegated by Vice President of Network Management.

The Manager of Business Development is responsible for the daily administration of assigned physician growth, exclusive contracts, broker tracking, and market development assigned by the Vice President of Network Management and/or SVP of Regional Operations. Responsibilities also include ensuring appropriate tracking/reporting and implementation of strategic growth initiatives for such assignments with the applicable departments and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Identifies opportunities for the development and growth of physician contracts and enrollment of the region for all products and lines of business. Develop and execute recruitment strategies to increase Primary Care Physician network by agreed upon metrics in assigned Region. Develop and execute strategies to increase exclusive physician network by agreed upon metric in assigned Region. Specifically, engage in Physician recruitment and contract negotiations to increase Primary Care Physician network in assigned Region
  • Manage the different broker agencies for the Region, establishing a program to measure the effectiveness of each. Track and report results
  • Collaborate on a Medi/Medi, Medicare Advantage and Medi-Cal year around growth program for the Region utilizing preferred broker agencies to achieve growth targets. Track and report results
  • Work with targeted health plans to create strategies for year around growth and Medicare Open Enrollment growth. Track and report results.
  • Identify potential new markets for growth and develop strategies for development
  • Identify market competitors and develop strategies and work plans to execute on weakening their presence in assigned Region.
  • Identify potential acquisition IPAs/Medical Groups targets
  • Frequent interaction with regional providers as needed to increase brand awareness and satisfaction
  • Analyze Provider data for potential growth
  • Attend quarterly Joint Operations Meetings with contracted providers and health plans on an as-needed basis
  • Know and follow the Employee Handbook policies and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality so that HIPPAA compliance is observed at all times.
  • Coordinates or performs projects/activities as delegated by organization committees and Vice President of Regional Operations
  • Daily interaction with Network Managements operational functions
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Assist with any special projects.
  • All other duties as directed by management.

Education and / or Experience:

  • Must have at least 3-5 years supervisory, contracting or network field experience in Managed Care, more experience preferred
  • Ability to work with all levels of management
  • Advanced knowledge of contracting principles/tools and various managed care reimbursement methodologies
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and Power Point)
  • Must be able to travel within service area and have valid driver’s license and insurance

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $66,726.40 - $70,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
