Position Summary

As the Vice President of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in formulating and implementing our sales strategies to boost revenue growth and expand market share. Reporting directly to the Executive Team, your key responsibilities will include leading a proficient sales team, nurturing a collaborative and customer-centric sales culture, and optimizing sales operations for enhanced efficiency and overall success.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with the executive team to formulate a comprehensive sales strategy tailored to the Cannabis industry. Conduct market research, assess customer needs, and analyze competitors to identify new opportunities and revenue streams.
  • Takes charge of formulating and implementing an annual national strategy to drive sales volume growth while effectively managing costs within budgetary limitations.
  • Sales Team Leadership: Take the helm in guiding, mentoring, and inspiring the sales team to not only meet but surpass their sales targets. Offer valuable guidance, comprehensive training, and continuous support to elevate their skills and foster their professional growth.
  • Revenue Growth: Set ambitious sales objectives, closely monitor sales metrics and KPIs, and institute efficient sales forecasting and planning procedures.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers and strategic partners.
  • Sales Process Optimization: Constantly enhance the sales process to boost productivity and optimize workflows, while actively identifying opportunities for automation and integrating tools to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and actively pursue opportunities to broaden our market presence. Thoroughly assess potential partnerships, acquisitions, or collaborations to expedite the company's growth.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Regularly analyze sales data and performance metrics to provide insights to the executive team. Present comprehensive sales reports and updates to drive informed decision-making.
  • Sales Training and Development: Plan and execute comprehensive training programs aimed at enhancing the sales team's proficiency in flexible packaging. Cultivate a culture of continuous learning, encouraging the team to stay updated on industry trends and adopt best practices.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the sales budget. Ensure responsible spending while achieving sales objectives.
  • Manage local account executives with the goal of meeting/exceeding revenue, prospecting, and new business targets.
  • Take charge of advertising sales activities within the designated market, with responsibility for achieving or surpassing targeted advertising sales revenues. Additionally, manage sales expenses effectively to ensure financial control.
  • Lead by example in driving results through the team, effectively managing their performance, and holding them accountable for meeting and exceeding business metrics.
  • Provide clear direction for sales activities and processes aimed at acquiring new business and nurturing existing relationships.
  • Strategically allocate and optimize operational resources to attain sales and service objectives.
  • Supervise the management of available advertising inventory to maximize profitable sales opportunities.
  • Conduct regular reviews and make necessary adjustments to sales territories and assigned call lists for optimal effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and finance teams to comprehensively understand and develop pricing models based on customer sensitivities, encompassing both minimum and maximum product pricing levels.
  • Analyze areas for improvement, devise effective sales plans, and strategize to accomplish sales goals.
  • Work in collaboration with finance and sales leadership, overseeing all aspects of quota and capacity planning, encompassing territory planning, quota setting, capacity assessment, and compensation planning.
  • Deliver precise sales forecasting based on data-driven insights derived from pipeline analysis and past achievements, offering real-time updates and incorporating historical data and seasonal trends to provide reliable and accurate information to the entire organization.
  • Find and scale best practices, including identification and monitoring of meaningful metrics to drive sales efficiency, identifying and filling gaps.
  • Liaising with product and marketing teams to develop sales training programs, materials, and plans, ensuring that all representatives understand product, pricing, and motion of sales.
  • Assess current operating processes and business models relative to the dynamics of the current market and position.
  • Actively partner to drive new models around sales tools and support to ensure efficiency and consistency in coaching, performance, and reporting


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5 + years' experience at an Executive Level in sales
  • Proven work experience as a VP of Sales or a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods, as well as employee motivation techniques
  • Extensive experience in strategic sales planning, market analysis, and customer relationship management
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and driving business growth.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving market conditions.


Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree: MBA or Master in human resources, Business Administration, or related field


Ability to travel/relocate:

  • Residing in or planning to relocate to the Greater Los Angeles Area with a reliable commuting option before commencing work. (Mandatory)
  • Ability to travel up to 50%


The annual salary for this role ranges from $200,000 - $250,000, with the potential to earn up to $100,000 in bonuses tied to predefined Key Performance Indicators.
