  • Summary of Position: (Brief description of overall responsibilities and function)

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is a full time direct sales position for the AW product line. RSM shall be based in the Leonardo Helicopters (LH) Region of responsibility (Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada or California), with a travel requirement of about 50% of the working time to cover the territory. This position will require interaction with private entities, commercial customers, para-public, local and federal government agencies (as applicable).

The RSM focuses on generating opportunities, finalizing sales on Civil/Government Helicopters and Rotary Unmanned Air Vehicle in accordance with the company commercial objectives supported by Segment / Product Marketing, manage existing accounts, support and manage the indirect sales channels as applicable (e.g., distributors, independent agents) being aware of any potential compliance risks and with a commitment to act with integrity in accordance with LH procedures and Codes of Ethics.

The RSM, in coordination with the Head of Region (HoR), shall define, develop and execute sales actions consistently to achieve the provided sales target for both new and pre-owned helicopters (in accordance with the LH inventory). Furthermore, the Regional Sales Manager shall improve LH brand awareness and positioning in the region, providing market intelligence to the Business organization by attending relevant congresses, conferences, shows and planning LH participation as exhibitor in the region and supporting LH internal departments for global events when in the area of responsibility or in the macro Area.

With respect to the LH internal responsibilities the RSM will closely coordinate and interact with various stakeholders, leading and coordinating the internal functions (e.g., Bid Management, Contract Management, Legal, Sales Engineering, CS&T) required to achieve the sales target and provide input for action required to achieve the overall sales objective.

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of the regional sales plan and contributes, through the HoR, to the definition of the Macro area sales strategy, preparation of the budget, Sales Order Intake and marketing plan.

  • Lead sales and pre-sales efforts
  • Analyze, identify and generate business opportunities for AW product sales; educate the potential customers on product benefits and service advantages
  • Cultivate key contacts
  • Maintain a qualified sales funnel: develop relationships for longer term sales prospects
  • Develop strategic relationships with major customers and collaboration partners
  • Track and respond to tenders aligned with the global sales strategy Manage the indirect sales channels
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts within the parameters defined by the HoR
  • Help customers to define their needs based on LH solutions

LH representation and Promotion

  • increase awareness level of AW products and programs and position the company’s products and services
  • Develop & implement plans for aircraft demonstrations,
  • Market intelligence: gather information, monitor and evaluate competition
  • contribute to the development of the product specifications
  • Represent LH in trade shows and maintain a strategic presence in the marketplace
  • Monitor, collect and share Voice of the Customer feedback for new products and improvements.

Reporting and planning:

  • Maintain accurate customer and transactional information.
  • Develop sale plans for new AW product range and LH used inventory.
  • Prepare and submit the area’s annual sales budget
  • Prepare and submit the area’s 5 year rolling sales budgets
  • Prepare and submit the area’s monthly activity report, and 3 month rolling forecast report
  • Monitor budget for assigned region
  • Fiduciary responsibility for business conduct, travel expenses, budget management, and corporate credit card use
  • Address any other aspect related to the effective administration as required by the role.

Within LH

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with key personnel in LH and AWPC
  • Partner with the appropriate functional teams to prepare formal and informal proposals
  • Work with Finance, Customer Support Services, Contracts and Legal to ensure compliance.
  • Partner with the Customer Support and Training organizations to maximize company perception and sales opportunities within assigned region.

Qualifications for Position:

A. Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales/Marketing or Aerospace Engineering

Master’s degree in Marketing or Business or Aerospace Engineering desired


B. Experience

8 years of experience: In-depth experience of sales of complex goods and services with proven results in direct sales or comparable position, of which at least five years in aviation sales and or sales management.

Experience in Helicopter Sales is a plus.
