Description:

The Tourism Sales Manager develops and implements sales programs and service initiatives that promote the destination in the group travel market in the U.S. and Canada.

The Tourism Sales Manager is a consistent and dependable source of knowledge and expertise whose primary role is to connect tour operators and group travel planners to all available product and resources and all needed services, including but not limited to group-friendly hotels, attractions, restaurants.

Responsibilities:

Destination Sales & Marketing


  • Provide personalized and efficient service to meet the day-to-day demands of tour operators, group leaders, and planners.
  • Maintain and develop a reliable network of group-friendly hotels, attractions, restaurants, and services in market, as well as memberships and sponsorships in group travel associations.
  • Identify and fill gaps in the market. Form new alliances to book new business.
  • Coordinate site inspections, educational and familiarization trips, and provide itinerary support to clients.
  • Create destination presentations and market updates for the group tour market.
  • Coordinate work-related tradeshows and travel, including sales calls and client events; attend annual conventions, sales missions, and industry events related to the group tour market.
  • Assist the Director of Leisure Sales as needed with client events and other projects.

Additional projects and services as requested.

  • Send group travel leads to hotels and service partners.
  • Track and fulfill requests received through all channels including, but not limited to, [please apply online] email, phone, and partner referrals.
  • Attend weekly and monthly Meet Boston and related industry activities and events.
  • Maintain current account information for all activity in the CRM.


Community and Partner Outreach


  • Educate partners on best practices in the group tour market; assist in the development of group-friendly product; provide information and opportunities on co-op advertising and marketing opportunities in the group tour market to partners.
  • Work closely with internal and external partners in the public and private sector to ensure a cohesive message from the Boston hospitality community.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of three years of sales, marketing, or hospitality industry sales experience.
  • College graduate or extensive public-facing work experience
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent aptitude for professionalism, organization, attention to detail, responsiveness, and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, customer relationship management software, LinkedIn, and social media.
  • 15% Travel / evening & weekend hours required.

Job Type:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday; some evening and weekend work required.
  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office / 2 days remote, subject to change in the future. Individuals in sales may be required to work as needed on additional days per business needs.
