PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for managing all domestic sales operations for Chattanooga division. Duties and responsibilities include driving sales strategy, setting & meeting sales and profitability targets, communicating sales reports, trends and plans, and leading a team of experienced sales leaders to increase sales, profitability, and business development.


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Lead the development and implementation of a strategic business plan for sales that aligns with SCT’s overall business strategy and drive regular strategic sales decisions to maximize organizational sales and profitability
  • Communicate and present sales initiatives, plans, & trends to Chattanooga leaders & teams, the Executive team, and corporate leadership clearly and consistently
  • As part of the Chattanooga leadership team, serve as valued leader to represent sales and be the voice of the customer for all planning and execution
  • With Director of Corporate Accounts and team of sales managers, develop annual and longer-range sales targets and plans for sustained, healthy growth
  • Manage and lead team to ensure annual sales budgeting/planning requirements are met
  • Successfully lead team of Sales Managers to achieve growth, hit sales targets and meet overall annual budgeting requirements
  • Coaching, assist, develop and train Sales Managers to achieve sales goals, grow professionally, and support development of Account Managers
  • Collaborate with sales, product development, marketing, & supply chain to develop new catalog products and programs while evaluating existing products to ensure their continued value
  • Provide support between customer corporate contacts and sales account management
  • Utilize sales reporting tools to assist in development of forecasts to ensure balance between sales and production planning
  • Build and reinforce positive relationships between the sales management teams, Account Managers, customer service team, and other cross functional departments within the Company
  • Remain current with product and industry marketing trends to include sustainability trends
  • Assist when needed in resolution of escalated customer issues and complaints regarding sales and service in a way that honors the customer and aligns with SCT’s mission, vision and core values
  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and monitor these preferences
  • Ability to develop and communicate a shared vision with sales team and customers
  • Ability to understand what motivates customers
  • Set a good example for the team, acting in accordance to company culture and values, prioritize efficiently, use good communication, and deliver results effectively
  • Strong work ethic with an understanding of and adherence to SCT’s core values in all business decisions and interactions
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask well, paying close attention to detail with effective time management


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum ten years’ experience in distribution and/or paperboard packaging, sales and management experience required, excellent relationship building skills, skilled at building rapport, opening doors, and understanding business requirements of customers at all levels. Strong analytical skills/logical reasoning ability, able to understand legal or complex language. Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask well, paying close attention to detail and effectively manage time, independent thinker/worker with strong initiative to lead/manage multiple projects under minimal supervision. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills and willingness to travel. Working knowledge of JD Edwards Enterprise One is a plus. Advanced skills in MS Office applications – Internet, Word, Outlook, Excel software. Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field preferred but not required.
