What does Blockwise do?

Blockwise Engineering is a small (~50 employees) design and manufacturing company supporting the medical device industry. We sell equipment that we have designed and manufactured for numerous applications within the medical industry. Our sales are business-to-business, and our facility includes engineering, parts manufacturing, and machine assembly all under one roof.

We are looking for a technical sales engineer, and we want to emphasize the technical part of this position.

The primary role of this person is to act as the first contact between our company and our customers. The position will require a candidate who can learn and understand our products at a very technical level so that they can use that knowledge to help our customers with both new purchases and technical support.

This position will also require a candidate that has excellent organizational skills. The candidate will work across numerous product lines, and will need to keep track of open technical support issues, ongoing sales negotiations, and various other customer inquiries.

What kind of technical / engineering work is involved?

A bachelor's degree in an engineering or related field is highly preferred. We will expect the candidate to show strong technical knowledge regarding mechanics, pneumatics, and electronics. In this position, we will expect that you learn the appropriate applications for each of our machines, and which technologies each machine uses.

This knowledge is critical to be able to understand which of our machines might be best suited to a customer's specific application. This position can be described as an applications engineer. In this position, you will be asked to handle technical support issues, work with customers to test their products on our machines, and work with other product engineers inside Blockwise to solve technical issues.

What kind of sales work is involved?

We are not specifically looking for someone to go out and generate sales. Our primary concern is supporting new and existing customers with the technical side of their purchasing decisions.

In this position, we will expect you to start from a customer inquiry, work with them to sell the right machine, issue pricing quotations, and maintain follow-up communication with the customer until their purchase order is issued and fulfilled.
