What We’re Looking For: We are looking for an experienced development/fundraising professional who shares our – and our donors’ – commitment to advancing UNC. Our next colleague should understand standards of higher education fundraising; be knowledgeable, articulate, creative, diplomatic, strategic, caring and respectful; and be an active listener and team player.

Your Role in UNC’s Success: The Director of Development is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts to the University. You will carry a portfolio of major gift prospects from an assigned academic college and geographic region, with expectations of regular travel. Using your professional experience and prospect research, you will help each prospect reach her or his individual philanthropic capability.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or may substitute a completed degree for additional experience. At least three years of experience in major gift and/or portfolio management, preferably in higher education. Ability to communicate effectively in writing; understanding of fundraising best practices; experience in developing solicitation strategies; and evidence of successfully meeting goals.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a higher education fundraiser.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range is $85,000-$95,000. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.

Additional Requirements and Information
Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.
