Catering Sales Manager

Objective

Generate revenue and profits in Food, Beverage, Room Rental, and Audio-Visual by maximizing
all available space. In an effort to provide our guests with the highest standard of service, must
assist the Director of Catering in overseeing the Banquet Department.
  • Answer all catering inquiries within one hour.
  • Answer walk-in inquiries.
  • To maximize revenue by aggressively selling all available space and up-selling food, beverage, room rental, and audio-visual.
  • Arrange and finalize all details for events forwarded from the sales department including banquet event orders, audio-visual requirements, guest room requirements, group resumes, VIP gifts, 72-hour guarantee, pre-convention and post-convention meetings.
  • Ensures that all banquet event orders for all upcoming groups are completed at least 2 weeks prior to arrival.
  • Prepares necessary menu proposals.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Hotel, including menus, prices, and space capabilities.
  • Compute weekly sales reports of all confirmed and tentative bookings.
  • Successfully meets weekly sales goals and understands the importance of the Sixteen Week Average.
  • Performs Manager on Duty shifts as assigned.
  • Meets and greets clients during all major events during the day, evening, weekday, and day or evening, weekend.
  • Assists the accounting department with collecting catering past-due accounts when needed.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Communication
  • Excellent verbal and good written skills required
  • Extra language knowledge is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations depending on the groups and clientele.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to learn Marriott Catering, Sales, and PMS systems
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs
