How you will impact Ingevity:
We are looking for a Market Development Manager – Innovation. This role will be responsible for identifying growth areas in our Performance Materials business that span outside the core markets and industries currently served. You’ll need to have a strong understanding of market analysis, market segmentation, and in navigating these segments to identify unmet customer needs. You will work with our commercial and technology teams to manage projects that best utilize our resources for value growth. You should have experience with M&A and be able to identify and help drive these activities. We are looking for an individual with a proven track record that can develop a strong business pipeline and plan, outlining the key opportunities and the investment payback expected from investing our resources. This individual should be innately curious, with the ability to converse with customers and other industry experts to dig out value added opportunities. This individual needs to be willing and able to take an ideation concept and drive it into the market.

  • Identify high growth targets and drive partnerships to ensure NGVT’s future growth initiatives
  • Develop detailed business plans based on market segmentation, market growth dynamics and business potential.
  • Create tactical plans to identify primary targets, build discovery strategy, develop superior value propositions based on unmet needs, and manage the projects through the pipeline.
  • Understand peer and substitute technologies. Map competitive share and activity to develop likely response scenarios. Recognize strengths and weaknesses to better position Ingevity for success.
  • Identify potential acquisition and alliance partners in line with the long-term business strategy.
  • Develop a robust pipeline of new product/new opportunity programs, develop business cases and lead prioritized programs through the Ingevity Innovation pipeline.
  • Complete and maintain project plans for all key programs including tactical and strategic recommendations.
  • Identification of and relationship development with potential partners.
  • Collaborate with commercial and technical teams on key customer interaction and needs analysis.
What you need to succeed:
  • University degree in science and/or business. Advanced business degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in an innovation or business development role.
  • Comfort in front of customers, prospects and performing public presentations
  • Strong commercial, strategic, and marketing mindset and toolbox. Experience with Product Blueprinting, Market Driven Management, product lifecycles or similar programs is a plus.
  • Proven ability to take projects from idea to commercial success.
  • Ability to develop dynamic business cases to present to team and senior leadership.
  • Strong listening, technical learning ability and strategic vision.
  • Innately curious.
  • Cross-functional relationship skills.
  • Resilient, resourceful, optimistic and energetic.
