Verde Farms

Remote-based position

Verde Farms is seeking a Director of Sales, primarily responsible for closing new distribution and leading account management. The Director of Sales will also be responsible for providing strategic sales direction, support, and leadership to the sales organization with a strong focus on solidifying Verde’s position in the better-for-you beef segment. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Director of Sales is accountable for developing detailed sales plans to achieve high annual growth targets, managing customer level P&L’s, and interfacing with cross-functional team members in developing customer specific programs.

Director of Sales Qualifications
  • 7-12 years’ experience in consumer packaged goods sales
  • Proven sales leadership
  • Track record of success influencing retailers to accept new products or new brands
  • Experience with consultative selling leveraging facts, including syndicated data
  • Capability to recruit and develop a talented sales team
  • Experience across a range of retail channels including grocery, club, natural, mass
  • Managing across distributor/direct account
  • Broker management
  • Experience in startup/entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience in growing brands
  • Ability to travel as needed

Director of Sales Job Responsibilities
  • Develop organization-wide sales strategy, identify growth potentials, and allocate resources to deliver corporate objectives
  • Build a high performing sales organization including optimizing organization design and leading and developing talent
  • Coach, motivate and lead sales organization to drive for results
  • Conduct business reviews both internally and externally to ensure sales plans are being executed and delivered
  • Deliver category growth with our retail partners, achieve distribution targets, develop the promotional strategies that deliver efficient and effective trade spending
  • Drive and collaborate with internal functions to develop customer specific programs/items/POS to build the business
  • Accountable for the development and accuracy of sales forecast by customer and product to drive production planning

New Distribution
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining account relationships
  • Develop comprehensive plan to gain new distribution with retailers and distributors
  • Develop 1–3-year strategic customer plans by category including new distribution and expansion of current portfolio (new products)

Relationship Management
  • Assess, build, maintain and drive broker relationships for optimal execution of growth plan
  • Provide business updates to Senior Leadership on sales results/opportunities
  • Build effective relationships throughout customer organizations and at various levels including Executive Management, Operations, Merchandising, Supply Planning, Category Management, and Marketing
