Job Description

The Outside Sales Specialist will be responsible for increasing attendance and revenue for Universal Studios Hollywood theme park by actively promoting products and generating consumer-direct sales at various outside venues, both on property and off property. This role will serve as a key external representation of the company’s theme park products and services. The Outside Sales Specialist must be able to convey a sense of expertise and product knowledge while maximizing sales potential within a high-traffic, high-volume area with a wide range of visitors from local, domestic and international markets. As a member of the Sales Team, this role is accountable for meeting the daily revenue and attendance goals of the company.

  • Sell a wide variety of theme park products to a diverse market and consistently convert inquiries into solid sale
  • Upsell into an upscale, premium experience
  • Deliver sales pitches using a microphone and engage a high traffic area into purchasing or upgrading to a premium product
  • Actively prospect for new business and maximize last minute sales potential
  • Meet set quality standards relating to sales pitch, conversion techniques, and guest service
  • Meet established sales metrics (sale and conversion goals are subject to change, depending on business needs)
  • Maintain knowledge on all products and relevant theme park information in order to effectively present and discuss all products and services offered
  • Process ticket sales and reservations according to Standard Operating Procedure(s)
  • Responsible for all aspects of monetary and credit transactions
  • Perform market and competitor assessments to assist in identifying new opportunities and targets
  • Foster good working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Represent the company and product image at all times

Qualifications

  • Consistent attendance, ability to adhere to established break/lunch times and ability to work a flexible schedule, including full weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • Ability to accommodate schedule and activity/priority changes on short notice
  • Comfortable working in a variable work environment, both indoors and outdoors, with differing environmental conditions
  • Comfortable with prolonged periods of standing
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions
  • Proficient using the Internet and Microsoft Office

Desired Characteristics

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to cross-sell/up-sell comfortably and adapt sales pitch as needed while maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Solid sales aptitude with ability to excel at consumer-direct sales, including proactively approaching guests to generate sales and adapt sales pitch “on the fly” depending on the consumer
  • Capable of thriving in a high-pressure, team-oriented and fast-paced environment
  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently while remaining detail-oriented
  • Ability to engage a high traffic area by using a microphone to deliver both scripted and improvised sales pitches
  • Working knowledge of a Point of Sales (POS) system, including handling all monetary/credit transactions and computerized cash registers
  • Ability to speak foreign languages, particularly Spanish and/or Mandarin, is not required but a plus
