Job purpose

The primary function of the SBA Business Development Associate is to maintain and develop the sales pipeline activity through loan origination, process in-house transactions, and coordinating prospects or leads. The Associate will interface with all departments to guide loans through the approval and closing process and ensure the SBA Guarantee on all loans.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide credit and closing support to lenders and their respective transactions with paramount attention paid to sound communication within process workflow.
  • Prospect through cold calling and viable SBA lead generation.
  • Generate, track, and create report of potential SBA clients and interface with lenders for subsequent metrics reporting of these efforts.
  • Interact with SBA processing centers on SBA GP submittals to improve response time.
  • Support and prepare memos, as enhancement to closing department, in order to create efficiency and faster turnaround.
  • Process new credits deemed “in-house” loans and referral sources (via support function), working transactions through credit, closing, progress funding (if applicable) and booking.
  • Interface and coordinate with Bank’s Marketing staff to broaden solicitation efforts for Brookfield lending group by creating database via zip code, industry, loan type, size, etc.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of commercial lending experience.
  • Working knowledge of government guaranteed lending policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of SBA SOP requirements.
  • Strong relationship management and business development sales skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking practices, including financial statements and credit analysis.

Preferred

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending experience.
  • Extensive working knowledge of SBA government guaranteed lending policies and procedures.
  • Strong relationship management and business development sales skills including ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking practices, including financial statements and credit analysis.
  • Ability to structure loans to meet the needs of bank & borrower.
  • Formal credit training is preferred.

Working conditions

  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • Local travel of up to 20%
  • National travel 1-2 times per month when necessary

Physical requirements

  • General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $109,500.
