Against that backdrop, we are seeking a talented sales executive to join our team as Associate Vice President, Group Medicare Sales. In this role, you will lead all Sales functions for this $7 billion business, including development of alternate distribution channels and consultant relationships on a regional and national basis with premier partner organizations. You will sell products/services to a small group of strategic/key accounts critical to the organization in terms of sales volume or market share growth.

This role is critical for driving sales in the Group Medicare organization, with a focus on large group sales (1,000+ lives) and will work within broad objectives/goals to apply community and industry knowledge to create and implement strategies that have long-term impact on the segment or company. This position requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across segments and/or enterprise-wide.

The AVP will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Group Medicare, and will lead a 16-person team with seven direct reports. This position can be located anywhere within the lower 48 states.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Build distribution channels, with a focus on establishing relationships with consulting organizations and large regional brokers.
  • Drive revenue and client retention by building consultative relationships.
  • Understand customer industry and business needs to offer unique and innovative solutions.
  • Work with clients to establish a strategic account planning process and agree upon performance objectives.
  • Build collaborative internal resources to meet and exceed performance objectives and customer expectation, including developing pricing and pricing strategy.
  • Navigate long and complex sales cycles with tenacity to a successful outcome.
  • Oversee pricing and pricing strategy.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and lead a high-performing team of sales professionals


Key Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have broad healthcare industry knowledge, a proven track record in the Medicare industry, and extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in progressive healthcare operations or sales support leadership positions. This person will possess broad understanding of the Group Medicare landscape, the competitive environment, and current and future industry challenges. He/she will have proven ability to develop strategy, set and meet established targets, and effectively manage programs. Finally, this person will also be a strong leader of people with a record of success in expanding and elevating the capabilities and performance of the team.

In addition to the above, the following professional qualifications and personal attributes are also sought:

  • Demonstrated commitment to cultivating business relationships (internally/externally) while leading and inspiring a team to achieve agreed-upon results
  • Experience supporting alternate distribution channels, influencing direction to support nontraditional growth
  • Experience working with and supporting senior leadership to achieve strategic goals across the segment or enterprise-wide
  • Current or recent experience in a large, highly matrixed company (i.e., Fortune 250), with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
  • Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage and influence many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it to a wide variety of audiences including internal and external business partners
  • Demonstrable long-term leadership potential to be viewed as a legitimate successor to the SVP, Group Medicare
  • Bachelor's Degree
