We currently have an opportunity for an Area Vice President to support the East region. This AVP will lead a commercial sales team, including coaching, developing, and executing strategies to drive company objectives. The AVP will drive business integrations to identify and evaluate market opportunities and execute growth strategies to maximize the revenue growth and profitability of Abbott’s Vascular Products.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Accountability for the overall management, strategy, and leadership for the business in the assigned geography, including sales, margins, market share, growth, and people leadership.

  • Profitably grow share and lead the team to meet the strategic, tactical, and financial commitments.

  • Ensure that systems and processes are in place to enable the districts and regions to operate in a legal and ethical manner and sets an example as a role model.

  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to commercial/sales leaders and cross-functional leadership ensuring that the relationship between area and region teams works effectively.

  • Responsible for managing P&L, ensuring business functions drive operational efficiencies and improving margins to meet the financial profile.

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership creating and sustaining a healthy growing business.

  • Ensures that development activities are in place to maintain a constant supply of talent and to maintain a positive and inclusive working environment.

  • Develop a robust talent pipeline, encourages growth & development, ensure career paths are identified for top talent & mentors top talent directly, driving best practices, and create a culture of innovation, pro-activity, and accountability.

  • Meet sales and margin commitments to the Division.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent or equivalent plus typically 8+ years of progressively more responsible medical device or related sales experience.

  • A minimum of six years of demonstrated experience at a supervisory/managerial level is typical; an advanced credential, such as an MBA in a relevant discipline/concentration is also typical.

  • Seasoned judgment acquired through organizational experience and achievements in the medical sales profession.

  • A comprehensive ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices.

  • Ability to work with and direct others effectively.

  • Ability to prepare and present effectively written and verbal communications.

  • Thorough familiarity with medical device industry policies, operations, and procedures.

  • Comprehensive ability to effectively prioritize development projects using customer input.

  • Documented record of delivering strategic competitive intelligence or marketing information which adds value to management’s decision-making process.

  • Expert verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of frequently used personal computer programs and applications, such as, Microsoft Office.

  • This position requires a considerable amount of business travel, approximately 50-75%.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
