POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a self-motivated, sales-driven professional with superior communication skills to join us as the Director of Business Development. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work with businesses to add doggie daycare and boarding to their employee benefits packages. The person will be responsible for the development and maintenance of key partnerships for Wag Hotels. This person will manage priority partners directly and create the program structure and supporting materials for local leadership to execute follow-up and maintenance at a local level. We are looking for someone who has experience nurturing a lead list and managing multiple partners at different stages of partnership. The Director of Business Development will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and will be a key part of our overall growth strategy. The role provides an opportunity to continue to grow your business development skills within a fast paced and growing company within the pet services space.

Essential job activities include:

  • Responsible for overall business development program management, including prospecting new partners, cultivating new and maintaining existing relationships with major accounts
  • Research, map and develop custom acquisition plans across channels
  • Responsible for the creation of a robust target list of national and local prospect partners across multiple channels and industries.
  • Develop a process for managing partners across lifecycle of business development: from prospect exploration to lead cultivation to partnership development to program maintenance.
  • Develop direct relationships with national and major account partners and partner with marketing to create program materials to manage local partners indirectly through local leadership.
  • Work with the marketing team to create a portfolio of program assets tailored to support various channel relationships
  • Support the local teams with limited business development, lead follow-up and program management skills by developing basic skills needed to utilize resources available to identify and cultivate local partners
  • Develop tracking and reporting tools to measure and monitor success of business development efforts
  • Create evaluation metrics to help focus prospect and lead generation in highest revenue potential areas
  • Support local leadership in appreciating key partners
  • Act as a resource to resolve customer service issues with major account partners
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8+ years of related business development, sales, account management or equivalent.
  • Experience with lead generation management, prospecting potential partners and relationship management
  • Demonstrated success selling services and/or partnerships into corporations
  • Proactive approach and ability to work independently and take initiative along with a strong ability to collaborate in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills including presentation and writing skills and excellent ability to communicate with external partners and key contacts at large and small businesses
  • Strong analytical skills needed to conduct market analyses as well as assessing the impact of business development initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail and well-organized with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with conflict resolution and ability to navigate through the negotiations of resolving a customer complaint
  • Budget management experience
  • Availability to work some weekends
  • The position will involve extensive travel (estimated 25-50%) and onsite client visits
  • Must love dogs

Total Compensation: $85,000 - $110,000 including approximately 25% in incentive compensation

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
