Job Description:

The Senior Solutions Architect (Microsoft / Cloud) is a presales engineering role responsible for supporting regional sales efforts by developing enterprise technology solutions for our clients. This requires a wide base of core technical knowledge as well as specialization in specific technology disciplines, but also a deep commitment to customer success with measurable outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Solutions Architect (Microsoft / Cloud) provides senior-level Sales Engineering support through the creation of technical solutions that may consist of hardware and software products, professional consulting and engineering services, managed services and staffing. This includes:

  • Meeting with customers to assess business needs and solution requirements
  • Explanation of solution architectures via whiteboarding, presentations and client interaction
  • Creation of complex product solution configurations and associated Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Detailed scoping of professional services engagements and creation of Statements of Work (SOWs)
  • Involvement with professional services projects and managed service onboarding processes
  • Assisting with customer satisfaction issues, technical problems and case escalation as needed
  • Maintaining relationships with manufacturer engineers to stay current on product capabilities and to collaborate on customer solutions as necessary
  • Attend training and technical conferences to support ePlus partner relationships and to stay current on technology industry trends
  • Maintaining key manufacturer certifications related to personal technical specializations as well as company partner requirements
  • Serve as thought leader in areas of technical specialization, supporting and mentoring other engineers and account executives as needed

Job Knowledge/Skills:

For a Senior Solutions Architect role, general understanding of application, networking and data center technologies is a core requirement in order to be conversant with our customers. However, this position also requires a focus in selling modern Microsoft solutions, from product differentiation and licensing to scoping professional services related to deployments, upgrades and migrations. This should include:

  • Windows operating system family
  • Active Directory
  • Core Microsoft applications and services such as Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint or Teams
  • Solid understanding of Azure solutions and services is also required as the technologies mentioned above can be deployed in the cloud. Azure knowledge should include areas such as:
    • Operational models
    • Cloud networking
    • Application security, governance, risk, and compliance
    • Application reliability and resiliency design
    • Application performance monitoring and management
    • Cloud FinOps/cost management
    • Cloud automation tools and processes
    • Cloud application migration methodologies

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technology and 3+ years of commercial presales experience
  • Experience working in a vendor (OEM) or value-added reseller (VAR) environment
  • Multiple industry-recognized certifications, e.g., CCIE, VCP, CISSP, etc.

Position Specifics:

The base salary range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $120,000 and $170,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions and discretionary bonuses, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Physical Requirements of Position:

Ability of finger dexterity to be used primarily to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects or pinching fingers together. Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and / or fingers. Speech ability must be at a level where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing ability must be at a level to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. Visual ability must be average with ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery. Physical strength for sedentary work with sitting most of the time. May have to exert or lift up to 10 – 20 pounds of force occasionally.
