We have a unique opportunity for an experienced, Sales Director with a proven track record in developing cohesive and highly-productive sales teams. You have the opportunity to expand the sales function of a successful company into new markets to achieve strategic business growth. We are positioning our company to grow from our current base of $20 million in annual revenues and looking for the right person to take us there.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision of all sales personnel and sales activities.
  • Oversees hiring, training and firing of all sales department personnel.
  • Provides leadership to the day-to-day operations of the sales department, while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic goals.
  • Recommends company sales revenue goals and works with CEO to finalize them.
  • Breaks down company revenue goal and assigns appropriate goals to sales department personnel to ensure attainment of company objectives.
  • Defines objectives for all employed and contracted sales personnel, and monitors adherence to those objectives on a continual basis.
  • Develops and maintains an effective and efficient department through continual training and motivation-based compensation programs.
  • Plans and conducts monthly department meetings to promote & ensure strong communication throughout the department and the Company.
  • Analyzes sales statistics to determine business growth potential.
  • Develops budgets for sales department and reports to CFO on variances.
  • Effectively-manages pipeline utilizing defined technologies and succeeds in improving close rate to a level agreed upon with senior management.
  • Directly manages implementation of new customers to ensure their smooth transition from their current supplier to the Company.
  • Coordinates sales operations with all other departments of the Company.
  • Provides Executive Team with accurate, timely reports as requested.
  • Directly manages all Special Programs associated with Sales, including but not limited to existing Cross-Dock Sales Programs and Sales Networking associations Manages special projects, including but not limited to:
    • Periodic Price Increase Implementation Programs
    • Special reporting requirements of Customers.
    • Coordination of implementation of new technologies and systems.
    • Launching of new products.
    • Annual Golf Tournament and other Company special events
  • Oversees all sales software systems & communicates department needs to CTO.
  • Participates in definition of technology needs vis a vis the sales department as requested by senior management. Ensures that timely and objective feedback is given to the Technology Department in order to improve systems.
  • Manages sales staff regarding implementation & training in specified technologies and ensures that all sales personnel become proficient in same within timeframes established by senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Requires a degree in Business (or comparable experience) plus 10 years+ of management-level experience in sales with a $20M+ corporation.
  • Requires a verifiable track record of outstanding performance in Sales Management and rep motivation.
  • Packaging and/or Grocery Industry background preferable.
  • Position requires some travel.
  • Requires ability to envision & focus on the big picture, define the details, and effectively assign responsibility to subordinate staff.
  • Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower employees to achieve objectives with a team approach.
  • Requires financial planning & analysis experience and skills, including a proven ability to develop and effectively maintain adherence to a department-level budget.
  • Requires technology experience & skills and the ability to effectively implement new systems within this Department.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
  • Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to build long-term, healthy relationships with customers as well as Company personnel.
