Purchasing Manager - Industrial Packaging - CA - 27037839

Our client has been providing customers with top quality Packaging solutions, Fine Paper Products and Janitorial Supplies since 2002! They pride themselves as the Direct Manufacturer of Stretch Film, Packaging Tapes, and a complete line of Packaging needs, in addition to fine Paper Products and Janitorial Supplies.

Position Summary:

We are currently looking for a strong Purchasing Manager, w/ Industrial Packaging experience, to lead our Industrial Purchasing team. This position coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services to include Packaging products for resale, raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and company supplies.

This position will also be responsible for managing suppliers through the development of supplier scorecards and price negotiations. The Purchasing Manager will also work closely with our Sourcing department to qualify new suppliers.

The Purchasing Manager will evaluate the pricing model within the Industrial Purchasing Department to insure price increases/decreases are accounted for properly and that proper margins are realized. A high degree of professional integrity, ethics and confidentiality is required at all times.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Pricing negotiations with vendors
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles
  • Understanding of the market and economy to support procurement  efforts
  • Address defective or recalled goods with quality control personnel,  customers, sales representatives, vendors, and others to determine source of  trouble and implement corrective action
  • Work with Industrial Sourcing team to identify and qualify new  vendors
  • Effective decision making and negotiating skills
  • Establish new vendor accounts, credit, and terms
  • Maintain Industrial Core Products List
  • Execute vendor price increases and rebate programs
  • Ability to communicate professionally
  • Collaboration across multiple functions (e.g. Customer Service, Sales  and Vendors)
  • Ability to work in a schedule-driven and fast-paced environment

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; College degree preferred
  • CPSM Certification preferred
  • Packaging material product knowledge and proficiency in product  sourcing
  • Experience negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers
  • Knowledge of and experience working with supplier quality rating  systems
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem solving  skills
  • High sense of urgency while managing multiple projects
  • Excellent oral/written communication and customer relation skills

Base Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 (DOE) + Bonus + Equity + Great Benefits + 401K Plan + Expenses
