Job Summary : The Sales Development Representative (SDR) plays an important role in generating new business opportunities and building relationships with potential customers. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the building materials industry. The SDR will participate in a structured training program to gain expertise in our products, sales techniques, and customer service strategies. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, the SDR will develop the necessary skills to advance into a sales role and contribute to the company's growth. Duties and Responsibilities: * Training and Development: * Participate in structured training sessions covering product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service skills. * Shadow experienced inside and outside sales representatives to gain practical insights into the sales process and customer interactions. * Product Knowledge: * Study and understand the features, benefits, and applications of our five product categories which include surfaces, hardwood plywood, composites, hardware and lumber. * Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and competitor offerings. * Customer Interaction: * Assist in handling customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings. * Learn to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions. * Sales Support: * Help prepare sales presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations. * Assist in managing and updating the customer relationship management (CRM) system with accurate and timely information. * Lead Generation: * Support the sales team in identifying and qualifying potential customers through market research and outreach efforts. * Participate in prospecting, account review, networking events, and other lead generation activities. * Order Processing: * Learn the end-to-end process of handling customer orders, from initial inquiry to delivery. * Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment and follow-up with customers to confirm satisfaction. * Market Analysis: * Assist in analyzing market data, competitor activities, and customer feedback. * Contribute to the development of sales strategies and tactics based on market insights. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Self-motivated and eager to learn. * Excellent organizational and time management abilities. * Ability to analyze market trends and data. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. * Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. * Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities. Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field. * Prior experience in sales and/or customer service. * Experience in the building materials industry is a plus but not required. Travel Required: * As needed to customers in assigned territories or with other outside sales representatives or managers.
